Wildling Type: X'zek / Insect-People

Gameplay Traits

 
  • Ability Score Increase.
  • Creature Type.
  • Size. Your size is Small.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
  • Languages.
  • Age.
  • Alignment.
 
  • Night Creepling. You have darkvision, allowing you to see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were in dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
  • Nature's Machines. You have proficiency in one skill and tool of your choice.
  • Versatile Anatomy. Choose one trait listed below to best represent the type of anatomy your X'zek has.
  • Hard Shell. You have natural armor, granting you a base AC of 13 + your Dexterity modifier. Additionally, you possess a pair of elytra. As a bonus action, you can use your elytra to propel yourself upward at a distance equal to half your movement speed. You can use it in conjunction with a regular jump.
  • Camouflage Master. You have proficiency with the Stealth skill. You also gain a +3 bonus to Dexterity (Stealth) checks when in heavily forested regions. Additionally, your base long jump is 30 feet, and your base high jump is 15 feet, with or without a running jump.
  • Skitterer. Your base walking speed increases to 30 feet. Additionally, you can choose to gain either a climbing speed equal to your walking speed or a swimming speed equal to your walking speed (you pick which one when you choose this template). If you pick a swimming speed, you can also hold your breath for up to 1 hour.
  • Limited Flight. You have a flying speed equal to your walking speed, but you must land at the end of your turn or you fall. You can't use this flying speed if you're wearing heavy armor. Additionally, when falling you can use your reaction to spread your wings, slowing your descent. When you do so, you fall gently at a speed of 60 feet per round, and you take no fall damage when you land.
  • Specialized Role. Choose one trait listed that represents the specialized nature of your X'zek.
  • Powerful Build. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift. Additionally, you can ignore the penalty imposed on you when wielding weapons with the Heavy property.
  • Bite/Stinger. You have a fanged maw/sharp stinger, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with it, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength/Dexterity modifier slashing/piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
  • Poison Resilence. You have resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against the poisoned condition.
  • Inner Glow. You can emit a bright light from your lower abdomen in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet. You can use an action to expand or reduce its radius of bright and dim light by 5 feet each, to a maximum of 20 feet each or a minimum of 0 feet each.
  • Extra Arms. You have a set of secondary arms that you can use to grasp and manipulate objects, open or close a door or container, pick up or set down a Tiny object, or wield a weapon that has the light property.
  • Stubborn Survivor. If your head is cut off, you survive, but you are deaf, blind, and cannot speak. When this happens, you gain Blindsight out to 5 feet. You can survive up to 2 weeks in this way before dying unless you are healed.
