What are Formulas?
While the everchanging, chaotic nature of matter seems random, Magical researchers have found that there are laws that govern wild surges. One of these laws are known as Formulas, and they are a method of directing chaotic energies in a specific fashion.
When certain symbols and combination are placed on an object in the Aetherial realm, objects become "locked in" to which and how many Aspects they will give up or take from the surrounding area, and where those Aspects will go. With a sufficient Formula one can force an object into only a singular option, allowing a mage to essentially control the changing process themselves.
There are many methods by which Formulas can be etched into an object in the Aetherial realm. The easiest is simply writing the Formula out in using Flux. Flux exists partially in both the Material and Aetherial realm, and as such can be used for this purpose. Since the Aetherial realm is a metaphysical realm, the symbols need not always be actually physical. Another method for transcribing Formulas is by focusing intently on the exact symbols within one own mind. This is the method performed by Hematic Aspetheurgists.
