Cantrip: Destabilizing Beam

Aspetheurgy (Evocation)

Burn Chaos to create a destabilizing beam of Fluxflame. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 force damage as a beam of scintillating energy shoots towards them. After casting this spell, roll a percentile dice. If you roll a 5 or below, an Unstable Effect occurs, with the GM rolling in secret to see what happens next.

  • At Higher Levels. This spell’s damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10). Additionally, you can spend spell slots to send out additional beams. Each spell slot added sends out an additional beam of energy that you can send to the same target or a different one. Make a new attack roll for each additional beam. On a hit, it deals 2d10 force damage. However, the more spell slots you use, the higher the chance that an Unstable Effect will occur (see the table below).
