4th-level Spell: Expulsion

High Magic (Abjuration)

You brandish a repelling item at an Aberration, Elemental, Pentacle, Spirit, or Sword you can see within range and attempt to expel them from the current Dimension you are in. The target must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failure, it is partly wrenched off and stuck in between dimensions. For the duration, it becomes incapacitated and gains resistance to all damage.   The target makes another Charisma save at the end of each of its turns, ending the spell on a success. After a creature not native to the current Dimension or Realm fails its second Charisma save, it disappears entirely, while a creature that is in its home Dimension and Realm continues making saves for the duration without disappearing.   If a creature not native to the current Dimension or Realm fails its third Charisma save, it is temporarily banished back to its home Dimension or Realm and stops making saving throws, reappearing in the space it left or the nearest unoccupied space (if that space is occupied) if the spell ends before reaching the full duration. If you maintain concentration for the full duration, this banishment instead becomes permanent for this creature.  
  • At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 4th.

There are three known Realms in the Tales from Vaxus Campaign Setting:
  • There is the Aspectual Realm, which occupies the "higher" dimension of Vaxus and is where all Aspects' "souls" are located.
  • There is the Physical Realm, which occupies the "middle" dimension of Vaxus and is where Aspects materialize into "bodily" form.
  • And there is the Spiritual Realm, which occupies the "lower" or "deeper" dimension of Vaxus and is where the souls of all living creatures gather before journeying into The Beyond.
  • There is also a fourth, lesser known realm known as the Connection State, which occupies the "everywhen" dimension of Vaxus and is where the connections that tie people, places, and things together are all gathered. Though no known entities exist solely within the Connection State, auramancers can gain access to it, though usually only for a few brief moments at a time.
  There are also other, lesser known locations in Vaxus that would operate with this spell depending on the entity:
  • There is the Underworld, where Swords, Pentacles, and other creatures are imprisoned.
  • And there are the eight Outer Spheres that float beyond Olum's highest atmosphere, which is where Diamonds and Stars reside. Seven of these "Outer Spheres" can be seen periodically when looking at the night sky throughout the different seasons, with Luna appearing the most.
