Absconditus Monstro Species in Tales from the Rookery | World Anvil

Absconditus Monstro

Due to climate change and continued population growth across the world there are even fewer non-populated areas in the world. Fewer, however, does not mean that none exist, and the creatures that live in these areas are still being discovered today.   One of the most recent discoveries has been named absconditus monstro, or secret monster. It's common name is angirus. This species looks very similar to the Kaiji Angirus, hence the common name.   This species seems to be about the size of a Komodo dragon at around 70kg and about 3m in length. They are covered in thick scales and have the ability to curl up though we have not been able to communicate with them enough to determine why they developed this behavior and have shown it to us. Is it that they considered us a threat and they were defending themselves? Were they trying to warn us of a greater threat and showing us how to defend ourselves?. At this time it is unsure what they were communicating; however, as research continues we hope to find out.   It is a reptilian magical creature with a 6 on the Intelligence Scale. Now that we are aware of how intelligent they are, our research has been halted and we have moved our tents back to the regulated 1000m from what we believe to be their community. We have stopped using our magical measuring devices until permissions can be obtained.   The next step in our research will be to get funding to hire a magical translator so that we can begin to discover more about this new species, if in fact they are new. We tend to make assumptions but it is possible that these angirus have been here all along. Also note that we may have to change the name once we can communicate as it would them be important to use their own name for themselves.
