Marine Peilstand 1 Tower Building / Landmark in Tales from the Peppermint Twist | World Anvil

Marine Peilstand 1 Tower

On  the little channel island of Jersey there stands a landmark from the Second World War, Marine Peilstand 1. Built to serve as a command and control center for the guns of Battery Lothringen it was never used. For the five years of German occupation it sat still and silent, never seeing combat. Afterwards it was used as part of a museum complex show casing the history of the island's German occupation.    After the awakening and Black Tide it was abandoned and finances were needed elsewhere. Serving briefing as shelter for homeless people it was taken over by the pirate broadcast radio and television Normandy Is English took over.   Normandy Is English broadcasts English language radio and television to France encouraging the citizens of Normandy to become autonomous and to join the Jersey and the other Channel Islands as part of a larger Dukedom circa the 11th century.    Proudly flying the Saint George's Cross and a Two-Fingers up banner, Normandy Is English does it's best to raise the ire of the elitist French government. While no real damage is done other than eliciting a tired sigh, it is rumored that runners have provided them with sensitive French data that has been aired. Of course no one knows who sponsored these runs or paid the runners.    Normandy  Is English has support from one region of France. The semi-autonomous region of Brittany which has suffered under the current and past French governments. Perhaps the French druids living in Brittany  and the wealthy House of Rohan have plans to become independent. Time will tell.
