Ace of Aces Cockpit Settlement in Tales from the Peppermint Twist | World Anvil

Ace of Aces Cockpit

In the West Midlands there is a group of aficionado aviators who have gathered together to create their own flying squadron of fighter craft. They call themselves the Ace of Aces Remembrance Wing. Their goal is to rebuild and restore historic aircraft from throughout the world. Aircraft of any period or conflict.    However, with the awakening and the return of magic, some of the flyers came to the belief that parts of aircraft which belonged to historical aces would give them an edge if they could somehow acquire  them. To this end they have scoured the aviation auctions, dug through crash sites, and made purchases from collectors world wide. Some may  have even hired teams of shadowrunners to steal parts from museums.    The Ace of Aces Cockpit is upholstered with the fabric taken from Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen's Fokker Dr. I, a precision board clock from Erich Hartmann's Bf 109 G-6, and other odds and ends taken from various recoverable crash sites and museums.   For unknown reasons the latent background mana has seemingly caused these various plane parts to become infused with the spirits of those who flew them. This allows the pilot of which ever aircraft has the cockpit installed to fly with greater skill and ease. The aircraft handles better and is more aerodynamic and faster while using less fuel.    Both the Ministry of Defense and Council of Druids has expressed an interest in studying the cockpit and any  aircraft it is installed in. One line of thought being that if it could be replicated that it would give an edge to an air squadron equipped with such a device.    The question most on the minds of the researchers is if the spirits would in any way be cooperative. Magic is never a precise science and the reactions of those from outside the material world can never be underestimated.
