B12. The Gauntlet

Agent Lee calls several of the Vanguard as well as previous Vigil Contractors to engage in a mission for the Assembly. They are to venture into Pentastar territory to sweep for Vyjand signals and perform a status-of-forces assessment. One of the targets is a remote facility in the Kathol Rift. While Lee is her usual professional self, one cannot but get the sense she's deliberately provoking some of the heroes.

Their first stop is Dubrillion, height of Pentastar Luxury. While they eavesdrop on the planet they are caught up in a Kuati Soap Opera and take significant time to complete their scans of the system. They complete the system scan and head off for the next system.

Next stop is Dolis station where they scan the refueling facility. The odditity is that this refueling station is Completely Zero-G. There are moderate Imperial forces in the system.

From there, they enter the chaos of the Kathol Rift. A Hyperspace mishap leaves them in an odd other-realm where they are beset by vivid hallucinations. Unfortunately during their scan, they were surprised by a Star Destroyer on the far side of the planet. Only an emergency jump was able to let them escape.

Refueling at Dolis Station, the were not aware they had been made by Pentastar forces. Exo Stormtroopers ambush the hangar and force the heroes to flee the station with a miraculous jump directly from the hangar.

They return to Nigita and report their success. While receiving a cold welcome, but are rewarded.
