B17. The Old Man And The Sea

Characters Present

A cryptic message intercepted by Tia's contact network is deciphered as the long awaited information about the only known Vanguard Exile. Tia gets Bandit, Sabbath, and Fausto involved to track down the missing force user and see what caused him to leave and how he's free of the curse. With them, they include the recently freed and long slumbering Jedi, Zechs Malo. JK provided them with coordinates and a location on a lush world at the edge of the Rishi Maze.

Traveling to the far rim world of Rishi, the team lands at the odd Smuggler's Resort and enjoy a bit of the strange local color of the avians and their collection of stolen, hand crafted, and "misplaced" items before heading out on speeders across the archipelagos and islands of the souther reaches.

They find a large rustic bungalo home, mansion really, on the water's edge. The trappings of a life of gardening, fishing, and sailing are apparent. The occupant, a very large and unknown type of humanoid alien. When they approach him, he ignores them and goes into his home, responding only with a "Not interseted" to pleas to talk. Tia is able to coax him out with the promise of cookies and he joins them on the porch.

Before he emerges with drinks, Bandit reveals that he believes the creature to be a Pureblood Sith, a species said to have died out millennia ago.

Initially the being claims ignorance and does not even admit to the name or identity they assume. Through questioning, he apparently tries to lead them logically to the questions they are really asking. Alas, their innate stubborn refusal to accept anything outside that which they were taught becomes an impossible wall to penetrate. Seeing more intruders on the horizon, the being asks them to leave.

Puzzled at what other intruders the being could have meant, the team scans the horizon to see a wing of speeder bikes crossing the open sea. Zooming in on the riders they see Pentastar Stormtroopers and others with them. The team decides to break away from the house on the shore to attempt to lead the forces away.

They succeed in peeling off half the force, but are unable to prevent the remainder from heading to the house. While the Stormtroopers stay at range and lay down a barrage of fire at range, two of Pentastar's cloned Force Users leap to engage.

The battle is short, and brutal. While not exceptionally skilled, the clones are difficult to kill and hard to occupy for long. The Stormtroopers are much easier to deal with using a combination of telekinetically thrown boulders and speeder cannon fire. When the clones finally succumb, it is due to a concerted efforts by all five of the team.

However, by the time they can get their bearings, the other speeder squads have managed to secure the being from the house and were in the process of rendezvousing with their Speeder Carrier. Seeing that they did not have sufficient means to combat such a larger ground effect combat craft, the team fled.

Avoiding the carrier was touch and go until fighters from the starport forced it to turn away. They also managed to shoot down one of the stealth shuttles Pentastar was observing the operation from. The ship crashed nearby and the team changed course to investigate. In the wreckage they found a survivor, one of the pilots survived but was injured. They wound up turning him over to the Rishi Garda. Within the wreck they were able to extract bits of information from the heavily damaged ship's computer.

The information hints at forces moving behind the scenes at Pentastar to perfect their force using clones, and that they know more about the Vigil than previously thought, having intercepted communications around the Veragi incident.

The team collects it all and returns home. Between valuables collected from the shuttle, and the amazing plotting done by Zechs and turned over to B.o.S.S., while emotionally the mission may have been a fiasco, at least it was profitable.
