The Weave

There are almost as many conceptions of The Weave on Talavai as there are spellcasters, and thus sorting truth from speculation becomes difficult. The following facts are generally agreed upon by the majority of arcane scholars (if not the majority of practitioners) in today's age:

• In addition to being another plane of existance The Weave is also another dimension, separate from the three in which we exist and move; therefore, space has no meaning within the Weave and any point in space can be considered adjacent to The Weave.
• The Weave contains a vast amount of potential energy; whether this is infinite or simply so large as to be practically infinite is a matter of debate.
• The vast majority (not necessarily all) of magic in our world comes from "breaches" in the Weave, whether created purposefully or accidentally; due to the excess of energy in the Weave compared to our world, where our world directly connects to the Weave energy will pour forth.
• Supposedly all spellcasters create their own small breaches in the Weave, allowing them to shape and harness the energy that spills out.
• The fact that different spellcasting traditions  can cast different spells is due to the differences in the way they breach The Weave
