Kjorol

Kjorol is the largest city on the Ozer Coast, and home to the Zmeiya. the city is quite long, and several taller buildings. Kjorol clings to the Sery River, the only reliable source of water for the fields, and fish as a source of food. The river is quite rich with nutrients from volcanic ash, so farming can be quite plentiful, in spite of how little food can grow on the coast.   Kjorol houses roughly around 30,000 people, a vast majority of which being Zmeiya, and a very small minority of other races, most of which serving as diplomats, scholars, and some immigrants. a majority of jobs are in agriculture, with almost a quarter of the population working the fields. The second most popular job is "Yasen" pottery, where the craftsmen use the special clay, infused with volcanic ash. This is one of the two main exports of the Zmeiya.   The architecture of Kjorol is fairly distinct, being described as "Stone boxes topped with pine". The common house is often a three-story house mostly built from stone bricks, with the top floor and roof being made from the distinct Black Pine. The Castle, Bolshoi Palace, is a known masterpiece of architecture. The castle sits at around ft. It straddles the Sery river, with a gate on the east and west sides of the river.   The biggest project of the Zmeiya, the heart of the city, is the Nebo Tower. A colossal tower that's made to provide several living spaces for the city's poor, and as a point for the Zmeiya to trigger their transformative power.

Demographics

A majority of the population is working in agriculture, well over half of the country being made up of farmers and land-workers. The next largest profession demographics are the craftsmen. Since specialized craft, such as masonry, carpentry, and pottery are often highly desired. After that is the military, sitting at around 5% of the population. The smallest, general, demographics are the nobles, almost all of them owning some sort of major mine, or mill.

Government

The leader, or the "Gospo" is often chosen from one of the elites of society, whether an artisan guildmaster, a military general, or one of the nobles. Each will try and drum up support from the populace, and the candidate with most support will take position, and maintain the position until their line until no more heirs come up.   The Zmeiya have had ancient laws and codes, which are so highly enforced, that if a Gospo tries to change any of said laws. It can lead to riots, and more than likely, an assassination. Any laws outside of the ancient laws are often still treated as unchangeable.   Taxation is fairly consistent, and scales with the class divide (The poor pay less, the rich pay more.) The taxing is heavily enforced. With refusal to pay being met with either imprisonment, or even execution.

Industry & Trade

While the people of Kjorol are fairly self-sufficient. They export most of what they create, dusk barley, dragon wing spice, star-hide venison and leather. As a result, Kjorol is quite wealthy.

Infrastructure

Most of the infrastructure in Kjorol is fairly well-kept. The roads are made from stone bricks, and can easily serve as stairs when needed. There are multiple bridges to cross the Sery river, most of which are wooden suspension bridges. A well-known part of life of Kjorol are the Water Mills, used to make the barley flour and Dragon Wing spice.

Architecture

The architecture of Kjorol, along with most Zmeiya buildings is fairly distinct. It's rare for buildings to be a single floor, the only ones being warehouses, and storage buildings. Every floor up to the last one is made from stone bricks. The top floor, and roof, are made from Black Pine planks. One distinct piece of Zmeiya architecture is the lack of windows, due to the lack of reliable glass. Another quirky bit of architecture are "Vent holes", small holes near the ceiling of each floor used to vent, and regulate temperatures in the rooms. These holes are made to be plugged with a single brick during the winter.

Geography

The whole city is built clinging to the Sery River. The river is the biggest source of drinking water, fish, fertile water for fields, and spins the water mills which helps feed the city. The area around the city is highly mountainous, with the only way into the city being upstream through the Sery River Valley.
