General Summary
After a busy day around the town, the band of adventurers head to see Tholeon Porte to discuss his problem with a spell book. On arrival at his house they knock on the door to have it opened by the butler. Initially dismissive, he is impressed by Montague "Monty" Hightower credentials and invites them to sit in the greeting room. They are left for half an hour or so (enough time for Harnir to help himself to mints) before Tholeon Porte himself comes to see them.
They show him the spell book that Zendazalle Kront'tazza believes is a fake. He confirms that it is indeed a forgery of his own book which has been stolen in what appears to be a premeditated raid. Tholeon confirms that a day or two before the burglary someone had tried to buy his book, someone he thinks may have come from the District Dark Place.
He also confirms that he is an arcanist, not a spell user. The group ask if he can identify the ring they previously found. He agrees and, after studying it, identifies it as a ring of evasion. It is taken by Harnir as all feel he needs it for his role in the team.
Tholeon offer 130 gold for finding his book (After some haggling). The group are shown to the door but not before Harnir manages to steal more mints.
They head back to The Betrayed Giant in order to discuss what to do next, find the spell book or go to help "Sarge". Harnir cooks dinner But, while he is writing on the menu board, a couple of men enter the kitchen and kidnap Ysabella. After some searching it is discovered that she has been taken down an entrance to the sewer that is in the yard of the tavern. The heroes follow.
They follow the trail deeper into the sewer but come across a locked gateway. Furpheet turns into a spider to get through the grating and then explores further. Meanwhile the group come across a Carrion Crawler. While Zendazalle Kront'tazza is all for leaving it alone, a word from Harnir triggers Montague "Monty" Hightower to let fly with an arrow. Although it clatters harmlessly to the ground it is enough to start a battle. Hilde has clearly been practicing with the whips because she is much more adept and, as Harnir holds the monster off, the rest of them defeat it.
On further exploration they come across a group of kobolds. Rather than attack them, the group try to negotiate and they are pointed in the direction of some bandits. Montague "Monty" Hightower tries to sneak up on the camp but makes too much noise. Furpheet turns into a rat in an attempt to fool the bandits but this also fails. Chaos breaks out as battle is engaged. In the end the team kill 3 bandits and capture both the captain and one other bandit.
