General Summary
The party rose to the smell of Harnirs cooking and started to pack away the camp. The children played in the small gladed area. The morning looked a fine one. When suddenly everyone's attention was called to the sound of a screaming child. As the children came running back to the camp and the safety of Ildin Galbanks, one by one people realised that some giant lizards had come out of the woods. Harnir was one of the first to react and bravely put himself between the lizards and the rest of the group. A brief battle ensued and the three lizards defeated. camp was quickly struck under the forceful drive of Kork, although there was enought time for Harnir and Hilde to skin the beasts and harvest some meat.
As the wagon train went deeper into the woods the day got colder and a gloom started to fall as light struggled to get through the trees. The carts made it across a rickety bridge but were brought to a halt by a log fallen across the road. With the party strung outover a wide distance, suddenly there was a crash and a log swung out of the trees to smash into the side of the leading cart. As three goblins jumped out of the trees, and two came up from under the bridge, the party realised that they were ambushed. Kork and Ildin were engaged by the goblins by the bridge. Hilde rushed back to help, while her and Kork made sure work of the rearguard, the others concentrated on the front, protecting the carts, the carters, and the children. A fire bolt from Vashti fried one goblin which fell from the tree, a burning corpse. Zendazalle Kront'tazza cast Eldritch Blast, powerful enough to knock a goblin off its feet, never to stand again. Two rats ran in to join the fray but one is destroyed as Ildin Galbanks cast Toll the Dead, and then, in an acrobatic, elegant, soaring run, Lukas Donavin finished the last, skewering it with his sword after a running back flip.
Team work managed to move the logs, Harnir mended the damaged wheel, and the companions moved on. Finally as night drew in, they arrived at Octow's Reach. The guards let them in and Kork took them to The Betrayed Giant, offering to pay for their food and lodging in return for their efforts to protect his goods. The tavern was busy but a table was found. Lukas Donavin was indiscreet with his comments to the barmaid, Ysabella. However she seemed to take it well enough after pointing out the rather dominating barman, Stanton Cree. After ale, food, and some conversation, all turned in for the night.
