Merser
Merser exists primarily as a logistical hub, linking caravan routes with the Marias River barge line. This gives the small village disproportionate importance: goods, rumors, and people moving between the Marias Dale and the Plains of Corruption nearly always pass through here. Rangers maintain a quiet presence, watching for corrupted creatures attempting to cross the river or slip in along trader wagons. Bargemasters and caravan brokers compete for influence, creating subtle tension among the locals.
Though corruption rarely reaches the village itself, the river occasionally carries strange debris or fouled runoff from storms over the Plains, unsettling villagers and travelers alike. Merser is an excellent staging point for hooks—missing caravans, river hazards, odd tracks near the docks, or travelers fleeing something seen on the far bank. Despite its size, the village is a crossroads of information, making it a useful early campaign anchor or recurring supply stop.
