Strait of Andaen, The

The Strait of Andaen is the natural waterway linking the Haifatneh Sea to the Boundless Ocean to its north. Due to its strategic location, the Strait was a central site of contetion throughout the Internecine Wars (also known as the Crusade and the Reconquest similarly, during the Grim Era, it attracted the interest of Zamayiir the Lion as he sought to further the imperial designs of Great Wahaareh.   Prior to the landfall of the Frulthudii colonists, the Strait was first inhabited by the Sea Peoples of the Haifatneh Basin, though this history was erased for a time during the reign of the Reborn Theocracy, which claimed to have founded the first settlements there. It was not until the ruins of the Citadel of Andaen were excavated during the construction of what is now the Free City of Andaen that definitive proof of prior Haifatnehti settlement was uncovered.   In the late Grim Era and the Revival Era, the Strait has often been the single busiest route for maritime traffic across the Continent, seeing traffic and wares from the Basin itself, Coastal Takhet and Wal-Keshish, and places as far-flung as the warring kingdoms of Au-na-Lai to the east and the Ahm'ese Archipelago in the Boundless Ocean. This traffic is less predictable during the cooler half of the year, however, as moisture-carrying winds and the leveling of temperature differences between land and sea sometimes bring disruptive maritime storms to the area.
