The dragon is Wildfire - Trillium's husband. The structure of my advice is twofold:
- Get Wildfire into a state of safe dormancy where he is not a threat to himself or others.
- Work on a longer term plan for achieving the best outcome for him and his family.
Control
I’m enclosing Ausha’s notes on the collar and bracelet. It’s all beyond me, but thankfully we have a master jeweller in the family. Speak with Kaide about this as well - we are sending her Ausha's notes and perhaps she will be able to learn more. What is most important is the following:
- She believes that the bracelet is a secondary control item... that there may be another control item (or items).
- Your notes show some missing bones - it's possible that those bones were used to create a much more powerful control item, or in other magical relics. The tail spikes may have become wind and fire weapons; the horn and rib would be very strong ways to anchor a control item.
Even if we regenerate the lost bones, the connection between the dragon and the original bone will remain unless we can destroy it or cleanse it. As I said - long term plan.
Setting aside the general horror of the situation, my concern is that Long Yue's easy death is not the victory we want it to be. Demon Kings' power and will is inherited from their predecessors so having killed one means that another will adopt their mission and power in short time. The demons can't possibly be ignorant of Wildfire's connection to Trillium and the Empire, so as deeply as I want to see this as the hopeful return of my son-in-law, I'm more inclined to be suspicious of a potent weapon in our midst, both physically and emotionally.
Healing the body
The healing is easy enough, and I say that more in comparison to the rest of it than as an objective statement. Bodies are bodies, and they are much the same regardless of their structure. Focus on the spine and other bone repair wherever possible; even deep flesh wounds can be healed later. For now, I want him healed enough that he is not in danger, but not enough that he would be threatening to anyone else in the Empire if he were taken under the Collective or demon control again.
I'm sending you the same thing that healed Bran and Doraal - an emerald bead of rebirth. There is also a tincture made from something to help heal the bones.
Healing the soul
The soul is more challenging, of course. For now, let's try to strengthen whatever memory he is using so that he stays dormant and safe from complex control. I've prepared another concoction that should help him fall deeper into this memory.
I think we have an opportunity to heal him fully, but it will need the guidance and supervision of someone multi-talented - me, Magdalena, Rainbow, and a team of people with specialties in various areas (spirits, souls, dreams, memories, heart), dragons).
Next steps
Bring Wildfire somewhere safe, and continue with what work you've been given. Send me whatever else you can learn about his state - use illusion or memory sharing, and some blood if you can. If you or Kaide can use the Osyr magic that shows a person's history, use that too.
The more information, the better, including how this situation came to be. This is a family matter, but also a military and Imperial one.
