Eye of Maemorvi
History
The Eye of Maemorvi was discovered by enchanting gems with raw magical essence. Their ability to retain a projection of someone delivering a message that could then be seen by the recipient proved a lifeline during wartime and integral for sharing information secretly. Unfortunately, most of these were lost during the Era of Ruin, along with the knowledge of how to create more of them.
Creation Process
Eyes of Maemorivi require a considerable amount of magic to be channeled through a translucent gem to be empowered. This can be achieved by bathing the gem in magic-infused blood, for instance, in order to suffuse it with power. It must then be heated until the the blood is completely dried (natural drying forces the magic to dissipate rather than be activated).Practical Uses
The Eyes of Maemorvi is primarily a communicative tool. During the war between Aelferi and Derivos, the leaders of the various nations could not trust that their couriers would deliver messages as they were instructed. With tensions high, receiving a missive with the exact words of a leader proved vital to prevent unnecessary escalation or miscommunications. Following the war's conclusion, the Eyes of Maemorvi became a tool for transcribing history or leaving private messages for others, rather than a tool to prevent miscommunication. Paragons of the Ascendant Gods began to detail the secret information needed for their successors within stones that were sealed and only brought out when the current Paragon passed away.Known Locations
The creation and use of the Eyes of Maemorvi has faded from knowledge, making the discovery of one extremely rare. It is rumored that the Paragons of the Ascendant Gods each have one that they pass down to their successors, yet this practice has not been confirmed. Another that was corrupted by Grishtar had been rediscovered by the Ascendancy and hidden from his followers.Grishtar's Corruption
In the year 1540, Grishtar happened upon one of the Eyes. While his attention was focused on creating a vessel to reach the Prime Deities, he recognized this as an alternate way to unite his followers and ensure that others would continue his struggle. He channeled corrupting dark magic into the gem and encased it in sylvonis, mutating the existing magical essence into something fouler. This enabled him to force his message to be contained within the Eye perpetually and also creates a link between Grishtar and whomever received his message. The corruptive influence of his power also imparted the Ishnemdi Curse, indicated by a weal emblazoned upon the holder's skin in the shape of a slitted dragon eye.

Your exploration of the Eye of Maemorvi is captivating! The idea of magical gems used for communication during wartime is so imaginative, and I love how it transitions from a vital tool of protection to a symbol of corruption under Grishtar's influence. The way you weave its history, creation process, and the ongoing quest for its control creates a strong, immersive narrative. I’m intrigued by the mysterious implications of the Ishnemdi Curse and the Eye’s potential for both good and evil. Great job bringing such a rich, multi-layered artifact to life.
