Iron Wolves

"Long ago, a pack of wolves plagued the countryside of the human kingdoms to the extent that a cabal of wizards gathered and cursed the pack to be joined with iron, to be cursed with immobility for eternity. But somehow, the wolves adapted to their new forms and came back stronger than ever, but not for harassing farmers and crops. They came with sincere apologies and assurances that they would seclude themselves and be no bother to anyone who didn't seek it."
That is how the story goes, at least. In truth, imperial society still does not know where the Iron Wolves hail from or if they were created at all. They inhabit the mountains of the Empire and live and breathe the air of high altitudes and dig into the stone for safety.
