Wildfire Wolf

Like their cousins, the overcold coyotes, the wildfire wolf is a territorial, aggressive, ruthless killer.

They are fearless monstrous beasts who live to hunt, kill and attack anything that enters their territory, including other wildfire wolves. Some say they are not fearless but utterly insane because they attack other beasts bigger and stronger than them and fight to the death.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wildfire wolves are normal size quadruped creatures. They resemble wolves - hence their name - but similarities stop at how they look. Wildfire wolves can emit heat from their bodies burning everything that gets close. They also breathe fire, but it takes time to regenerate it. As they age, their skin becomes harder and harder to contain the increasing heat their body can generate. Older, stronger wildfire wolves were observed that the body heat they can emit does not stop at their skin but extends to a couple of feet around them.

Genetics and Reproduction

The only exception to their madness is when two wildfire wolves meet to produce offspring. They find a deep cave where the temperate is high. Using their flames, they create small, fiery gems. They collapse the cave when they leave. In the coming weeks, the gems collect heat from their surroundings, and when the time is right, the young wildfire wolves are born. They already possess the ferocity of their race and fight until only one wildfire wolf remains. The last pub takes the fire from its siblings and is now strong enough to break out from the cave to carve out its place in Tacillia.

Ecology and Habitats

Because of their unique anatomy, they prefer to live in dry and hot climates. They can tolerate somewhat cooler weather, but you will never find them in damp conditions.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are solitary hunters and hunt for everything they can catch and eat. If the prey is scarce, they will hunt for smaller game like rabbits and groundhogs or larger prey like deer and stag, but they prefer medium size animals.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The gems from which the young wildfire wolves are born are highly sought-after artifacts by alchemists and wealthy nobles. The alchemists for their experiments. The nobles for exclusive jewelry or to use in bed-warmers.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their hearing and smell are extraordinary. Scholars think it is even better than the hearing and smell of regular wolves.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their generic body color is dark reddish black. The red tint in the young ones is less dark, and older wildfire wolves tend to be completely black.
