Unreal Contest

Thrill Hill's latest spectacle is the Unreal Contest, where illusionary combatants fight against each other at the players’ whims. The idea behind the game is a pretty generic one. You need long-lasting illusions that can react to the effects of other illusions and store them in small containers. But it took years for many magicians specializing in illusion magic to develop the basics. Since then, they are continuously improving on their design to create more and more lifelike illusions for the entertainment of the visitors of Thrill Hill.

Here is how the game works. For a certain amount of money, you can purchase points that you can use to build your illusionary combatant. You can spend the points you bought to unlock a combatant’s six properties. Body, armor, shield, melee, ranged, magic. If you spend more points on the body, the combatant will have more health, but you will have fewer points on everything else. It is a game of optimizing your combatant to win. These properties are stored in small cubes you put into a small box where you can activate them by pressing them. This setup makes the game extremely portable, and you can play it anywhere inside the borders of Thrill Hill. Unfortunately, there aren’t many variations to the properties yet, and a few combinations have already risen to be the best selection for winning.

The Unreal Contest was designed first to be a one-on-one game. But soon, requests started to flow in to have more options. Currently, alongside the one-on-one match, there is a two versus two paired game and a ten-people battle royal. The magicians are also working on a tournament-style competition. In this type of game, the winner of a combat can take a cube of its opponent and switch it with its own.

Of course, where there is winning and losing, there is also betting. A lot of money changes hands during the games. Most of the money lands in the coffers of the queens.

Unfortunately, the game also piqued the interest of military leaders. By tweaking the properties, you can emulate a particular species or fighting style, which has tremendous benefits in training warriors. Rumor has it that the Dominion of the Hobgoblin and the Calamor Empire already reached out to the skat’ra queens to discuss the potential military use of the Unreal Contest.
I’m addicted to this game
