The rumbler tower of Kilsy Hill

The first of the rumbler towers was built at Kilsy Hill. It is based on the rumbler technology developed by Dor Paledust. But there are some differences between a regular rumbler pole and the tower. Implicitly, the tower is taller and broader than a pole. It is 4 meters high, and its circumference is about 1,5 meters. It uses a newly developed automated system that draws energy from an ancient technology called elemental reservoir and drives a wheel that hits a big drum with a hammer every 3 seconds. The elemental reservoir needs occasional replenishment but can use energy from natural and magical sources. Because of the automated setup of the tower nobody is required to work on the drum. It also makes the tower incapable of sending messages. But the goal was to operate similarly to a lighthouse to make travelers aware that they are close to home.
The tower was built first on the hill itself. And although the skat'ra are not troubled with noises, the continuous and rhythmical pounding of the drum gave some slight discomfort to queen Kilsy. After that, the tower was relocated about a km from the hill. It worked fine until lightning from a thunderstorm destroyed it. The tower was rebuilt on the same spot, but a pole taller than the tower was placed next to the tower. In addition, a small gadget was added to the pole. When lightning strikes the pole, some of its energy is channeled into the elemental reservoir.
Explorers, wanderers, and treasure hunters were delighted when the tower was built. Usually, their base is located at the nearby port, and with the tower, they know how far they are from rest and relaxation. They are currently trying to convince the queens to erect towers near other hills and have them send different rhythms. This way, travelers will always know which hill is the nearest and can travel parallel to the outermost hills. However, the queens oppose this request because as they build more and more hills, new towers must be raised, or the existing ones moved, and it won't be beneficial for the skat'ra.
A range of rumbler towers might be a good idea for the Northern Pearls
