Prairie rover Vehicle in Tacillia | World Anvil

Prairie rover

The prairie rover is the first object that H.O.A.R.D. developed. It was made to withstand the conditions of the Pristine Prairie. It was a huge surprise when H.O.A.R.D. unveiled this vehicle during one of their treasure runs, and at the moment, H.O.A.R.D. is the only one who knows how to build this wagon.
The design is based on a regular wagon pulled by horses. However, the prairie rover replaces the horses with an energy device. Everybody thinks it is the same energy source, the elemental reservoir, what the rumbler technology uses. It is advantageous on longer trips because mages can quickly replenish the energy of the elemental reservoir using their magical powers. Channeling this energy to the axles is probably the same method used in the rumbler. However, you have to turn a wagon, and you have to stop it too. These are done by a rod and a pedal. Both are connected to the front axle. With the rod, you can turn the axle like you would with horses, and pressing the pedal to the axle can stop the rover. The last significant change is that the wagon wheels are covered with a material similar in quality to the feet of the lightning rhinoceros. Probably not because it is resistant to energy but because it is flexible and resilient and can withstand the conditions of the Pristine Prairie.
The rover's body is similar to regular wagons, but the thickness of the walls is different. They are massive - both open-air and closed-body. The prairie has quite a few dangerous animals and monsters, so having a thicker wall helps save the items recovered during scavenging, and potentially, with the closed body, it can save the lives of the treasure hunters too.
The prairie rover is slower than a wagon pulled by horses. However, the rover doesn't need rest or fodder, and with a mage on board, its energy source, in theory, is limitless, making it ideal for long travels in unknown regions.
It is high time to pull on the reigns of the H.O.A.R.D. This rover seems impressive, but it can be used against us too
