Absolute and sound. These are the two words anyone in Daria would use to describe The High Council.

General Information

Creation & Responsibilities

The High Council was created on the 145th year of The High Era, in other words following the creation of the Darian federation and The Szoltag by one year. It was created out of the worries that civil order will deteriorate.

On paper, The High Council is responsible for maintaining civil order without using excessive force. However, The High Council often works indirectly with The Szoltag to look for external interference, such as externally-funded groups, and "grey" groups like The Ivory Dove.

A lot of the council's activities are unavailable for public disclosure. Nevertheless, its members are free to be identified, unlike The Szoltag. It's also important to note that The High Council is one step below The Szoltag; the council could be considered the closest branch of the Darian government to The Szoltag.

Membership

Prospective members of The High Council have to tick a few boxes before thinking of becoming a member. There are many things to keep in consideration but some of them include being a government worker, having a large amount of reserve mana, not being older than 55 years of age, being healthy mentally and physically, etc. Those that apply for membership are chosen based on a voting system that takes only the votes of those who already work in the Darian government into consideration.

Members of the council resign when they reach 55 years of age, or are inflicted with serious physical/mental damage Voting only takes place when a member resigns.

Currently, the High Council has 57 seats, which are all occupied.

Relations to The Oxus

While it's often hypothesized that there might be some form of underground activity between the Oxus and The High Council, it exists up to an extent. With certain members obscurely having ties to the Oxus in one way or another.

In actuality, the Oxus relations to The High Council are usually blown out of proportions.
