Malacatia
Formed from conflict, with freedom and liberty as its core values, brought into was life the second longest lived empire in Taarö. Founded and ruled for many years by the Aeston family until the Great War when the Heron family took over during the reconstruction.
History
Created as a resistance against the Vo-ren Nath Empire and after being aided by the Titan Nir, they resisted the invasion and founded Malacatia. Under the leadership of Vrek Aeston the empire flourished and grew beyond a simple rebellion, and the power of Malacatia would be shown in 1483 BTS, during the Brel Invasion. The Brel Invasion occurred before magic was available to the masses, and the brave warriors of Malacatia warded off droves of Turak and Shal'turak warriors that had warlocks and dark cultists backing them.
Ester perished and the Galdic Republic took control of all of what was formerly the Vo-ren Nath Empire in 1463 BTS, Malacatia assisted with the rebuilding. During this time Malacatia used it's diplomatic weight to control the new republic. This control would continue until 773 BTS when Nathius was razed by dragons.
During the Draconic Invasion Malacatia lost much of it's military to the dragon fire. Due to this many in the Empire wanted to retreat and let the Republic fend off the dragons on their own but Queen Sophia Aeston declined and continued the fight. The battles continued to grow closer to the empire until the Grim King was quite literally at the gates of Malacatia. Failures on multiple fronts allowed for the dragon to be forced back and the Grim King was slain.
After the battled ended the world settled once more, but not quite as it was. As the Galdic Republic was in shambles, Malacatia formally took control, leaving almost all of the land north of the Dov Highlands to be Malacatia.
Religion
Citizens of the empire are not forced to believe in the Church of the Seven Titans, though those churches do have special rights under the law, less taxes, etc. Worship of the Gods is strictly forbidden and any congregations that are discovered will handled discreetly.
