Zadamyl Zanthi

A flamboyant highwayman, Zadamyl coaches the wealthy and gullible on the roads. Ostentatious, her attire and demeanor is meant to distract and grab attention, including from her real goals.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Zadamyl is as flexible in her body as she is in her mind. Thin, agile, and lanky, she stands like a tall blade of grass in the field, blowing whatever direction the wind goes.

Physical quirks

She is unusually ambidextrous, which suits her style of fighting quite well, using a pistol with one hand and a dueling rapier with the over. Her style favors unpredictability, and using either side with equal skill certainly accomplishes that.

Apparel & Accessories

Her trademark, both pirating the roads of wealthy dopes and in the city streets, is in her bright and outlandish attire, and dramatic use of makeup. Her favorite is a long purple jacket with gold embroidery, similar to a military officer.

Specialized Equipment

Her pistol is a rare item in the world, originating from the engineering minds of the dwarves of the eastern mountains. Although not laced with the capacity for spells like the fascinating Spellshot guns, it is still more than enough to cause fear in most of the living.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Zadamyl was born and raised in the Purshand Empire, the second largest nation in the continent of Khilgara, and one of its most powerful. Her father was an educator, and a stalward follower of Varissa, while her mother worked in the Royal Consulate, trying to aid the voice of diplomacy and peace in a nation frequently seduced by the prospect of war. This granted their family a privileged, wealthy life. Zadamyl wanted for nothing, but was kept humble by her parents. Being of a rare patrician mindset, they believed their wealth and position also bore a responsibility to care for others.

Not only would it grant additional wealth, it would also alloww Zadamyl a greater glimpse into the seats and mechanisms of power than most would be afforded. The bureacrats and power brokers would always ensure that their pockets were lined by their occupations. That it came at the expense of the average citizen meant nothing to them; if they wanted to prosper, they needed to fight their way to the top. She would note commonly that none of the magistrates, tax collectors, or others rose from the streets, but started ahead, relying on the positions of their fathers. Numerous disagreements would follow with her parents, arguing that no amount of good work can offset being complicit in the system. Her parents understood her, though would never come to an agreement on the matter. When Zadamyl decided not to follow in their footsteps, and use her skills to find a way into The Pathfinder Society, they were only mildly surprised, and supported her following her own vision and morality.   Relying on her skills as a fencer, she was able to enter the local guild of the Pathfinder Society, achieving her dream. She was able to find many likewise talented and interesting people. Like her, they did not easily fit into machine of society, and had no interest in doing so. She could be useful here, she imagined, as well as grow to become more skilled and talented than she could have as some amateur artist or performer. It was early on that she was introduced to new technology from the Dwarven holds; a gun. She was immediately impressed with the weapon, both it's mechanics, and how its style naturally went to her style of behavior and combat. It could be deadly, no mistake about it, but could also serve to be highly dramatic and performative, with the loud bangs and clouds of smoke serving to be a useful distracting force for those unused to the weapon, which would be nearly everyone.   Zadamyl became disillusioned with the Pathfinder Society. They would be quick to marshall forces to handle dire rats in someone's basement, or some mongrel Goblins looking for a bite of food, but would do nothing about the noble lord taxing and starving his people to the brink of death, or any of the real problems in the world. Making her values and objections known, she paid a local bard to orchestrate and perform a song to that effect all day out in front of the doors of the Society Guild Hall.   Now independent, she handles business as she sees fit. She's a persistent nuisance to the wealthy elites, robbing them whenever they make themselves into easy targets, which is often. She doesn't kill, she's not a terrorist, and wants her victims to tell her story. Those who exploit the poor for their wealth will be paid a visit by the dandy highwayman, one way or another.

Sexuality

Zadamyl is pansexual, fighting something attractive in every form of every sentient being. She likes her fellow elves the most, but has been and will continue to be with anyone she finds interesting and attractive enough, assuming they consent.   Her relationships are a different subjedt alltogether. She can't imagine being committed to anyone, or anything, for the whole of her life, not after the amount of flings and relationships cut far short, or how short her time with the Pathfinders was. She is very much the type of elf to be living firmly in the moment, and that's enough for her.   There's the other aspect, for those she cares most about. She's a target, one that can't escape the repercussions of her actions for long. Anyone that would be associated with her as a significant other or spouse would become a target by proxy. For their sake, she can't entangle herself with anyone.

Education

Beyond her skills in combat and as a flamboyant dramatist, she has wide range of skills from earlier in her life. As a child, long before adventuring entered her mind, she was an avid painter. She also pursued poetry, though with less flourish and skill as her other works. She's taken up needle and thread as a tailor, fashioning clothes in her own distinctive and outlandish style.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Her greatest accomplishment, in her eyes, is having raided a royal coach, without a shot fired, and having lived to tell the tale. While she used the vast wealth to buy herself some fine wine and some silk cloth, the rest went to the poor of the neighborhood, granting them full bellies and beaming smiles for weeks.

Failures & Embarrassments

While her independent spirit has done Zadamyl some strong good in enabling her to fight for what she believes in, no matter what, it has also unfortunately alienated her in a way that stifles any meaningful progress. She is aware that, much like her parents patrician ideologies, her stealing from the wealthy elite to put bread on the table of a few of the Empire's hungriest doesn't actually solve the real problems. Those problems can't be solved alone, but working alone is how she does her best work, or at least so she thinks.

Morality & Philosophy

Her recognition and respect for laws is limited. Society must be strucutured in a way that benefits everyone, or as many as possible. Any rule that inteferes with this may as well not exist, as she flout it with little regard. She is not a dreaded anarchist, far from it, nor is she a revolutionary. She cares little for who holds the power, so long as the power is used fairly and correctly, and that the structures allow for decency and some form of equity.

Taboos

Killing is something that should only occur as an absolute last resort. She cannot abide punishments against those who did wrong with no other option, nor can she abide selfishness.

Personality Characteristics

Virtues & Personality perks

The Elf has a strong sense of duty and of selflessness. She is by no means the only person to try stealing from the wealthy, though she is one of the few to do so without the mission of personal self enrichment.

Vices & Personality flaws

Zadamyl has a tendency to be vain and at times superficial. She would counter this accusation that the flashy clothes and makeup is purely for show and to serve her mission, though this isn't entirely accurate. In the moments when she is "mask off", she is still drawn to glamour and that of highy aesthetic and beauty.

She can also be easily persuaded at times by a sob story. Some have called her gullible and this may partially be true. Moreover, she understands that she doesn't really need much of the coin that she has. Whether the person approaching it is being honest or not, it would do more good in their hands than hers.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Although she did not leave gracefully or quietly, she still has a few friends within the Pathfinder Society, including the Guild Master. Although they can't do anything about the rules, they recognize Zadamyl has a point, and protect her via non engagement. If the Pathfinders can't be the vehicle to fight corruption, they argue that they can't be the means to stop those fighting against it.   She has ties to the criminal underworld, though she holds that she is not a part of it. She knows the appropriate fences to unload her stolen wares. They've also been handy for getting hands on smuggled goods.

Family Ties

Like with her relationships, Zadamyl tries to keep her familial ties and associations distant in order to protect them. Her mother in particularly, venerable even by Elvish standards, would not do well under any force of authority.   Letters to and from home are the best means of keeping in touch from a wide distance, though even that is guarded. Fear of any message being taken and read for information limits the frankness she can speak with anyone.

Religious Views

Zadamyl makes her prayers and tributes to the Gods in her own way, although she is not always respectful of the dogma of the churches regarding them. She believes it is on her to understand the Gods and her relationship to them herself, and not to follow the dictates of others, who may have it wrong.   She is fond of the Pantheon of Performers, and remembers distinctly as a child praying to them for greater skill in their aspects, be it song, art, or drama. The talent never came, but skill came with practice and dedication.   She respects the Six Sisters, as responsible for those who created her and all of her best friends and lovers. She's even heard tale of the resurgent Sisterhood of Six Sisters, but wasn't convinced by the cult membership.

Wealth & Financial state

Despite her comfortable life, she actually lives well below her means as an accomplished thief of the social and political elite. She alotts herself enough to enjoy some of the finer parts of life, with the rest going to those who truly need it.

In her short sting as a Pathfinder, and as a solo 'adventuring mercenary', she's learned conversational fluency in most of the languages of the neighboring lands, although they are often still carrying her native accent.
