Traxian League Organization in T'sara | World Anvil

Traxian League

A loose coalition of small city states in the mostly desolate Traxian desert. The area was once prosperous in the Lost Age, but became harsh as a result of the tampering of the Fey. Over time, the actions of the locals to try and survive and thrive has only made the lands more desolate.

Structure

The city states of the Traxian league are allowed to govern themselves as they choose, with the leader of each being effectively a king or queen to themselves. There are no strict laws or policies to restrict the powers of these city states, only a loose agreement to support each other in self defense, and cooperate together for the benefit of mutual trade.

Culture

Where the harsh environs of the dwarves and orcs have lead them to solidarity, the traxians have had the opposite reaction. Survival and prosperity is solely in the hands of the individual, and it is not the responsibility of others to ensure that survival, least of all the responsibility of the state. Crimes are not well enforced here, and 'self help justice' to circumvent the lack of law is generally permitted.

This selfish uncaring attitude has lead to Traxia's most well known past time: the Gladiator Pits. Most of the Leagues city states have these style of games, where killing for entertainment is sanctioned and paid for by the state in order to pacify the citizenry. How many of the combatants fighting for their life are doing so by choice is never asked, and never spoken of. Traxians deal in the slave trade all the time; these are just used for a different purpose. This careless approach has also allowed a wide array of personal freedoms, to the degree they don't disrupt the power of the state. Open expression of any religion is permitted. Sexual relations are thought to be the individuals personal business and not of any concern to others, for better or worse.
