Kado Kojo

The Elvish Khan of Hlysa, Kado Kojo leads a storied people in a complicated time.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kado is short for an elf, more so having shrunk some in her old age. The color of her hair is gone, the silvery-white shade closely resembling that of a Drow now. Despite her aging years, she is both limber and strong, able to still hunt with her bow, or defend herself with a sword if necessary.

Facial Features

Kado is often said to have a consistently stern, serious face and stature. Some have said that it almost seems to be that she is perptually scowling, dismissive of the world. Though the elderly elf has, and has always had, high standards of herself and others, she is more than able to relax and enjoy herself and life. When asked about it, Khan Kojo has responded that she does not do it intentionally, and that if anything, she is probably deep in thought about something.

Specialized Equipment

Kado carries two weapons of great importance to her. One, an Elvish longsword, given to her by her father, shortly before his passing. Second, a powerful shortbow, meant for using while on horseback, that she received from the Khan whom she replaced. They are her most cherished possessions, both for whom she got them from, and what they represent for Hlysan culture.

Even in her age, even in her status as Khan, she is first and foremost a warrior, ready to hunt or defend herself

Mental characteristics

Sexuality

Kado is rare, being one of the few Khans of Hlysan's history that is not openly interested in keeping both elven and human partners. She is content solely with her Elven lover and husband, Kitha, who she's known since childhood. Some hearing of this for the first time fear that their behavior of keeping two families offends her, or worse, that she may try to end the tradition. Neither can be farther from the truth. She has no problem with the tradition of having an Elven Family and Human Family, and has seen that it has served Hlysa well since the beginning.
The days of her romantic exploits are over, in any case. In the elder parts of her life, she estimates that even if she were to seek a human partner, there would be few interested in one such as her. Although the fires of passionate embrace are mostly gone out from her, she still finds that she loves her husband as much as she ever did.

Mental Trauma

Kado and her husband lost three children either in pregnancy or immediately after birth. The repeated losses wounded both deeply, wanting nothing more than to be parents. Although that opportunity was denied to them, they still remember the souls that would have been, having kept track of their respective ages always, thinking of where they would be within their lives, and honoring what could have been with great love.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Kado maintains a strong relationship with her human contemporary, Khan Dramori Ylise. Though they do not have the relationship that the great First Khans, Keido and Bolormaa, once had, they are nonetheless comitted to continuing the Khanate to glorify, by peace if possible, through fightinging if necessary. She knows that Dramori wil likely be the last of the Human Khans she has the honor of working and interacting with. Being young, even by human standards, Kado fully understands her responsibilities now: she is to train him to be the best version of a Khan that she can, so that he can continue to lead both Elves and Humans through whatever may come when she's gone.

Family Ties

Kado is the last of the Kojo family, having never successfully given birth to a child to continue things on. While many mourn being the last of a family line, Kado approaches the matter with rare grace, internalizing the forests of her life as a source of philosophy.

All trees must fall and die at some point, whether blown down by fierce winds of a storm, hacked down by a cruel ax, or simply death of old age. A tree that falls does so in service of the rest of the forest, that other life may make use of it, and that new trees may grow where it once stood. Her family name ends so that others may grow in fame in their own right and time,

Religious Views

In her old age, Kado has grown to have a greater understanding and devotion to Ihstar, the God of Time and of Trees. She's reflect much on how the two are closely connected, and is thankful for the amount of time she's been allowed, so that her tree of life may truly glow and blossom.

She prays to her ancestors frequently, and with greater sincerity than she once had. She knows it will not be long she deposits her body to the ground in accordance with Dineth, god of Death, and will be reunited with the souls of her ancestors and loved ones, including her lost children.

Overall, as she approaches the final years of life, Kado has grown to be gracious to the gods who created the world and her life within it, where she had once been resentful and combative.
