Grimix

Grimix Grilzik

A rare testament to what a Goblin can achieve, the venerable sorcerer Grimix has spent almost his entire life in the Pathfinder Society, and now leads one of it's Guild Halls. Cognizant of the chances he's been given in his life, he is making it his central mission to ensure that his legacy is providing more opportunities to others.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Once tall for a Goblin, Grimix has lost a few inches in his old age, made over by a hunching frame. His green skin has gone wrinkled and soft. Despite his refusal to retire, it's doubtful how much longer he can really keep at it.

Body Features

In his old age, and enjoying a slight degree of wealth and privelege from his position, Grimix is slightly pudgier than most Goblins, which is to say that he's no longer ghastly thin, and actually looks proportionally built, like most beings. His once proud dark hair has gone white as snow, and has started to disappear on him, leaving a large bald spot in the center.

Identifying Characteristics

Even as far as Goblins are concerned, Grimix has long, pointed ears, that have become even more pronounced on his face as he's started balding. Rather than shaming himself for something he can't control, Grimix has embraced it, piercing said ears and wearing simple circular rings through them.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Grimix was born among the Tribes of Krag'ash, among a particularly suspicious tribe, integrated of Orcs and Goblins. His upring was rough, as it is for most in this hostile land, but this provided a means for his keen mind to reveal itself early on. Even as a child, he showed an ability and desire to learn, often that exceeded his age and diminuitive frame. As son of a Chief, he was granted a rare degree of privelege, but not enough to entirely spare him.

His sorcerous power appeared in adolescense, while being taught to lead and potentially one day even replace his father as leader of the tribe. On a hunt, Grimix had gotten attacked by ambush by a large beast. His life in immediate danger and in complete panic, magical energy released from his body in the shape of a wild arc of electricity. Although his father was glad that he had survived the attack, the event made him an enemy of the supersticious tribe; not even his father could say or do anything. There were calls for Grimix's death as a 'traitor', but his father managed to spare his life, reducing his fate to merely that of exile.
Fearing he wouldn't be safe in any tribal lands, he transited westard, until he reached the Shogunate of Stormfall. There, he thought he might have some degree of safety. Orcs were safe under the Shogun, which could not be said in many places in that area, and where Orcs were tolerated, Goblins were more likely to be accepted as well.   He tried to hide his magic, fearing that the reveal would result in a similar outcome as before. Doing odd jobs in Khura exposed him to much of the adversity and prejudice his kind has suffered since the Lost Age. Though not even an adult, he was thought to be wild, dangerous, and ungovernable. His situation was dour, with seemingly no chance of a positive end, until a random chance encounter turned his life around forever.   In order to survive, Grimix's magical abilities weren't as secretive as he would have liked, using his sorcerous spells to defend himself more than once. From reputation, he had caught the attention of Farlihn, a lovely adventuring cleric of Varissa, and member of The Pathfinder Society. She alone saw the young Goblin not as he was, but what he could possibly become beyond that of a petty scavenger, and took him under wing, to become a prospective Pathfinder. It would not be until many years later that he learned how much energy and political capital she had to use to make that happen.   Grimix never looked back. Not only has he shown greater depth of magical proficiency when not solely fighting for his life. His capability for learning completely exceeded his mentor's hopes.

Sexuality

Grimix has a strong preference for his "cousins" in the Orc world, a desire he's had since his juvenile tribal days. Their larger size, stronger frame, and more pleasing proportions have been quite appealing, especially the strong ones.   Although he still finds them attractive, old age has caught up with him, making it several years since he's last had a partner.

Education

Grimix has been mostly educated by the Pathfinders. The fundamentals were taught to him by his mentor, Fahrlin, who saw it as a sacred mission to teach, being a disciple of the Goddess of Learning.   Perhaps the most important thing she taught him was that he was not limited by anything, and certainly not by his Goblin blood. The confidence to learn and the confidence to seek out greater challenges would serve him in great stead, as fundamental to his rise as a Pathfinder.

Employment

In his tender old age, some have asked Grimix that he step down and retire from the adventuring world and the Pathfinder Society. He's been offered a professorship in the capital of Stormfall, or leading an organization. He's respectfully declined all of the offers. In all cases, he's said that he owes his life to the Pathfinder Society, he'll be with them till he dies.

Failures & Embarrassments

As a younger Goblin, Grimix got married and had a small family of children. His wife grew tired if his constant adventuring, and as she saw it, that he loved the Pathfinder Society more than he could love any person. She took the kids and left, never to be seen or heard from again.   Grimix rarely talks of this part of his life, and has never tried to be in a permanent relationship since, perhaps in realization that she was right.

Morality & Philosophy

Since becoming a Guild Hall leader, Grimix has found the need to consciously reflect on his ethos and values. He's determined that his main responsibility now is to nurture and grow the Society, and give people the opportunity to join and develop themselves.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

In his final years, Grimix wants to be sure that the Society that he owes so much to is better off than where it was when he joined, and that he's left a strong legacy for others to follow behind him.

He hopes that his contributions to the organization and the larger movement has helped pull back from the perception of some that the Pathfinders are just glory seeking and gold hungry mercenaries.

Social

Family Ties

Grimix assumes that his old tribe is still about in Kra'gash, though he's never gone back to find out. Although he's spent more time out of the tribal lands than he spent in it, by multitudes, he still honors those old ways. Exile is exile, and even if there may be someone there who remembers him and would be proud of what he's accomplished, he knows he can't go back.   He thinks often about his failed marriage and his children. He doesn't think there's anything that he realistically could have done differently, not without being a different person. He doesn't begrudge his wife for leaving, and hopes, wherever she is, that she's successful and healthy, and his kids, now grown up, found someone who could make them happy in a way that he couldn't with his wife.

Religious Views

Despite Grimix's outward behavior, being generally disagreeable to rules and traditions he finds to be outdated, the Goblin is in fact deeply spiritual, in his way.

As much as he publicily praises the Pathfinder Society for his successful life, he privately knows that everything would have been different If not for Varissa, First of Six Sisters, and Goddess of Learning. Had he not piqued the interest of Varlihn, the Pathfinders would have been a distant dream, if he had even managed to stay alive if left on the streets. Vrishka, Second of Six Sisters and Goddess of Magic is always given high reverence by Grimix. Skolm, the God of Books and of memory, is another deity that Grimix feels personally obligated to praise and give homage to, as much as he can.
