Glokrei

The God of War and the God of Sport, Glokrei has been gaining increasing strength and influence in T'sara, much to the pain and detriment of its people. He is not commonly understood by the populace at large, not helped by the few clerics dedicated to his worship and honor. Many consider him a bloodthirsty menace, forcing the world to fight for his maniacal glee. This could not be further from the truth.

Divine Domains

As the God of Sport, Glokrei governs a great deal more of the day to day lives than most would give credit for. It is said that Glokrei presides and witnesses any contest or competitive spirit, even something as simple as two children racing down an alleyway. Competitors often pray to Glokrei for favor blessing before a contest, and many have claimed their victory as because of him. Those clerics who claim to know him best would argue vehemently against this. He would never tip the scales in favor of one or the other unfairly. After a competition, certainly, and not always to the victor. There's an old legend of a Goblin who entered a race against an Orc, not to show that he was faster, but that he was willing to put everything into a race that the Orc was only half interested in. The Goblin was blessed with the fleetest of feet, said to have been able to outrun the light of Mastro himself.

As the God of War, Mastro is one of the most controversial and openly detested Gods of the world, perhaps only rivaled by Dineth, the God of Death himself. Much like Sport, Glokrei does not make wars happen. Any conflict or battle has been solely because the mortals of the world desired it. The God of War merely oversees them, spectating, and occassionally tipping favors. Soldiers, Generals, Kings, and civilians alike have prayed to him for favorable conditions, whether it be to merely survive the battle alive, or for glorious victory. Such prayers, on occassion, he will answer. He does not favor bloodlust and slaughter, and will grant those who need it a holy means to defend themselves, if they possess the arms and the backs to do so.

Artifacts

Many weapons and shields have been made with inscriptions and sigils dedicated to Glokrei, though most of them have never been blessed by any cleric to the God of War, nor granted any holy power. Those that have are considered some of the most valuable and legendary in the world, though no soul knows of them all. Even Glokrei himself could not say all that he's blessed and supported over the years.

One of the most well known cases isn't a weapon or shield at all, but a much larger piece of defense: a wall. The Wall of Ten Thousand Hands was built in a hurried defense by Orcish villagers in Stoneheart, against a human attack from what is now the Purshand Empire. Although they were all civilians, they were stout hearted in their defense, and relying on their Goddess Quargh's aspect of stone, every resident of the town of five thousand contributed to the building of a defensive perimeter to slow the advance. Impressed by their dedication and skill, Glokrei blessed the fortification for all time. Although the town has since grown well beyond the walls into a considerable city, The Wall is still a highly prized aspect of the cities culture, and of the Stoneheart people as a whole.   An enigmatic piece of gear associated with Glokrei is the Shield of Souls. Mentioned in the tales of a legendary hero, the Elvish warrior Gylladras, the details of it's magical properties have varied from version to version of the tale, and in what part of Gylladras' daring exploits he was in. It is thought that the Shield's name derived from being blessed so that Gylladras can save and protect the souls of those near her, the ideal warrior and soldier who always put herself between danger and those most vulnerable. Another interpretation is the shield acted as a vessel, holding the souls of those Gylladras defeated in battle and powering her to greater strength. Having been lost since the First Age, the location of the Shield is a great mystery, with multiple unsuccessful expeditions to try and find it. Until such time, the exact powers of it will never be fully known.

Holy Books & Codes

Having the foresight as to the devestation that could follow if war was not regulated and the worse impulses of mortals not kept in check, Glokrei issued wide proclomations for the proper execution of war. The vast tome covers correct moral behaviors in numerous aspects.   Glokrei's religious adherents have dedicated themselves to the study of war, in how to fight well tactically and strategically. These are, as a rule, not books or texts authored by the God of War himself, and as such can find wide variance in what is considered prudent or valid tactics that would most please Glokrei.

Sexuality

Although most of the gods have a sexuality of sorts and have been known or alleged to consort with mortals, the God of Sport and War has rarely ventured into this field. The act of persuing a romantic partner has rarely intrigued the God of War, and while there are soldiers and generals alike that have impressed him, few have been the sort by which he might desire to take to bed. With most soldiers and warriors the world over being men, fewer still would desire him back in such a way.   Worse still, in the few cases where Glokrei has tried to put aside his aspects and pursue a partner, male or female, he is patently ill-suited to the task. Having seen so much conflict, be it sport or warfare, and so much of his mind taken up by it, it has become increasingly hard, if not impossible, for him to relate in any meaningful way to the mortals of the world.   The nation of Vilory claims that they are the favored people of Glokrei, and that he once fathered two sons with a Vilorian woman, and those two sons and their descendants would be their kings. Their mysterious absense has called into question the veracity of this myth, but Vilory persists. The Maidens of Vilory are continuously propped up as offerings to Glokrei, virginal women made to be as beautiful and desirable as possible, so that new sons and kings may be sired, and Vilory's position in the world be renewed.
