Agito

The last human nation to be conquered by Intransica, the Eternal Empire. Where prior conquests have tried to preserve the society it was conquering, the Empire chose instead to eliminate the nation state off the map, casting all survivors as refugees. This would come as a great warning to the other nations.

Ideals

Courtship Ideals

Despite the matriarchical society, it was expected (but not required) for men to begin courtship in heterosexual relations. Permission to court was also highly expected; viewing those who pursued relationships without the explicit permission of the mother as impetuous, overly emotional, and dangerous. The courtship is closely supervised at first, with increasing freedom as the pair proves to be loving and productive. As relationships lead toward marriage, the man to proposed is allowed to live in the home of his future bride. They are granted wide autonomy, allowing the couple to grow and learn how to function together with the opportunity for help from the bride's family.

Relationship Ideals

The lenghty courtship process is indacitive of a wider view on relationships, both romantic and platonic. TIes with others are supposed to be built to last for extensive periods, if not for life. Building ties can often be slow and deliberate, but passionate and deep as a result. This spilt out into diplomatic relations with other nations, particularly the nations of other species. Agitan peoples were one of the groups that were able to trade and interact with the reclusive Dwarves nearby.
The Agito people were targeted for destruction for their diplomatic ties. The Capital city of Ipsola was a hallmark of cooperation between Humans and the Dwarves of Hammer Deep, whose trade flowed through their country. Orc clans were not only not being warred against as had been the case since the start of the third age, but were allowed graze and even form settlements within Agito. Traumatized by the Triumverate War, the Agito's alliances were displayed as treason to human kind. Privately, the Imperial Coucil recognized that a demonstration of a peaceful relationship with orcs was a direct challenge to their narrative, their power, and by extension, their continued existance.
