Buckler (1)

A buckler is strapped over the wrist and does not take up a hand to utilize, allowing the buckler user to spend their Reaction when subject to an attack roll to grant themselves a Deflection bonus to AC against the triggering attack equal to the AC bonus of the Shield + 1. If this property is used, a buckler user must ready their buckler as a Bonus Action to use this function again.
However, because of the nature of a buckler, the arm that wears the buckler cannot wield a light or one-handed weapon, but can be used to hold a two-handed weapon, albeit at a -1 penalty on attack rolls with said weapon.

Cloak (1)

A cloak is held in hand and used to distract, disarm, strike, and deflect an attacker, allowing the cloak user to spend their Reaction whenever they would be subject to an attack roll to grant themselves a +2 Deflection bonus to AC against the triggering attack, should this cause the attack to miss and the attack is from a melee attack, the cloak user can spend 2 points of Stamina to redirect the attack back at the attacker or at a creature within 5 feet of the cloak user, or to attempt a Disarm maneuver against the attacker’s weapon that triggered this action.
Alternatively, a cloak user can spend their Reaction whenever they would attempt a Disarm, Feint, or Trip maneuver to grant that maneuver a +2 Deflection bonus to the results.
If this property is used, a cloak user must ready their cloak as a Bonus Action to use this function again. However, because of the nature of a cloak, it does not provide a Parry dice bonus to Physical DR.
You are considered to be using a shield while wielding a cloak for features that require or deny the use of a shield.

Guard (1)

A guard item is worn over the wrist or head and does not take up a hand to utilize, allowing the guard user to spend their Reaction when subject to an attack roll to grant themselves a +1 Deflection bonus to AC against the triggering attack. If this property is used, a guard user must ready their guard item as a Bonus Action to use this function again.
However, because of the nature of a guard item, its Parry dice boost to Physical DR is halved, instead providing only half of the roll result, rounding down, instead of the full result to the user’s DR against the triggering attack. You are considered to be using a shield while wearing a guard item for features that require or deny the use of a shield, your hands are otherwise considered free, including for the use of two-handed weapons.

Protective Properties (varies; see Armor)

A protective item is able to take the Agile, Ballistic, Battle Mage, Bulwark, Burdening, Concealable, Cumbersome, Cushioned, Parade, Rampart, Refreshing, Runic, Spiked, or Winged armor properties, so long as the protective item’s design rules allow for the chosen property.

Shield

A shield is held in the hand and strapped to the wrist, granting added protection to their user. A shield has added maneuverability over a tower shield, though is less passively protective, thus a shield provides double its Parry Dice boost to Physical DR.

Tower Shield (2)

A tower shield allows you to spend an Action to plant the shield, freeing up your hand and providing a stationary 3/4 cover to one facing of your space. It takes a Bonus Action to remove from the ground and an Action to re-equip. Wielding a tower shield lowers your movement speed by 5 feet, while the powerful build trait negates this movement penalty.
When an adjacent ally is attacked by a melee or ranged attack, you can spend your Reaction to attempt to deflect the attack. You must spend 2 points of Stamina to activate this feature, if you do so, you may roll Parry Dice for an adjacent ally triggering this reaction.
  • This property increases the value of any shield made using it by 15gp.
