Zseskahni

Conquest, Rebirth, Slaughter

Long before ascension, before the divine mantle was draped upon them, Zseskahni was mortal—a serpentine yuan-ti born from an ancient ruling dynasty of the Yu-Quang Chi clan, During a period where they ruled the land with ruthless efficiency and brutality. But Zseskahni was different—their androgynous appearance and unnerving calm set them apart from their kin. While other Yuan-ti reveled in their serpentine nature, Zseskahni saw their form as a tool, a weapon to be honed to perfection.   As a child, Zseskahni displayed an unparalleled talent for martial arts, mastering techniques that took others decades to learn. However, their ambition and cold, calculating nature alienated them from their clan. Going to further lengths than even his clan would care to venture, Zseskahni proved to be the best and worst paragon of his clan. They believed that strength was the only true measure of worth, and their thirst for power was unparalleled. It was something that is never given but can only be taken.   This ideology caused even fear within their own clan, leading to their attempt in killing him which ended not only in abject failure but the fall of the entire clan in a single night. Stories have said that the roads leading to the clan’s ancestral manse continue to seep with blood and the wails of the regretful departed.   Zseskahni saw the world as a crucible—only those who endured hardship, bloodshed, and struggle were worthy of existence. Strength was not inherited, nor gifted by gods or destiny; it was proven through conquest. To submit was to die, to hesitate was to be devoured and in that philosophy, does one ascend to Godhood.   Their unethical practices of the arts merged both the peaks of the physical and the spiritual, penetrating through the veil to commit atrocities that should not have been made possible. Channeling ki to the point of being able to weave the life forces and warp them to bring unholy life to those who he conquered and humiliated, creating a cult of both willing and unwilling members who would follow the whims of the Serpentes King who controlled nearly the entirety of Yokugan from the shadows.   While many resisted his rule, it was finally a group of heroes, comprised of legendary martial masters, foreign adventurers and guidance of the divine heavens which finally put a blow to the lay the dark king low.   But in his death throes, he laughed as the final ritual of his rebirth was finally complete as he shed his mortal coil which had long since prevented him to venture further beyond and he was now free to set his eyes on the powers further beyond.   Now, revered by various jigoku sects and damned cults as the God of Conquest, Rebirth, and Slaughter, Zseskahni stands tall, not demanding worship; but struggle. Their followers cannot pray for blessings; they prove their worth through battle, ambition, and sheer will. The weak are mere kindling for the forge of the strong. Those who fall must either rise stronger—or be forgotten.   Domains: Death, destruction, Grave, Scorn, Strife, Tyranny
