Yalanue was the product of the Death Elves bargaining with their ancient and old demon masters. Her parents wished to conceive a child and were unable, so in exchange for their souls and servitude they were given a daughter. She was born a Death Elf by all appearances but beneath the surface lurked the abyssal heritage and power infused within her. The demon lords that had allowed her creation intended to make use of this agent and further facilitate their expansion into the material plane.
When she came of age, Yalanue used the powers within her to expand the domain of the Death Elves she was born to. She marched their armies against their enemies, their neighbors, and their allies. Demanding submission and promising torture to those that resisted. In truth, it mattered little for Yalanue if her foes surrendered for she would encourage her armies to loot and pillage regardless. Suffering was brought to all in equal measure. And the masters of these rival cities, settlements and nations, Yalanue would supposedly feast upon their hearts, fully embracing the abyssal heritage within.
In time the power granted to Yalanue would come into conflict with those that granted it. Many Death Elves stopped looking to their abyssal masters for salvation and instead hailed Yalanue as their new saviour. The domain of worship she had cut out in the world for the masters of the hells readily sided with the one who conquered them rather than the puppeteers. She eagerly accepted the reverence and looked to crush any dissenters. She carried out purges within the Death Elven empire, eradicating those that still paid homage to their demonic lords until there was naught left to do but snuff out the source.
Yalanue left the material plane and ventured to the hells to slay the demons that had made slaves of the Death Elves. Not out of a desire for her people to be free, but to prove her superiority. She conquered them, stole from them their power but was left unsatisfied. Where she went from there, it is unknown. Some believe she continues to savage the hells, attempting to claim more of them. Others think she set off to the other realms, to establish dominance. Either way, the old voices had gone silent and the only one that remained was Yalanue. Always demanding more blood, more battles, more war.

Yalanue originates from the material plane in flesh, for that is where her parents bore her. But her spiritual heritage is abyssal, coming from the hells and the demon lords within it. She considers neither place her home, only places where she might do battle and achieve glorious conquest.

Appearance

The most common depiction of Yalanue is that of a tall and muscular elven woman, her skin a dark ash grey. Bone white hair falls past her shoulders. She is sometimes shown to possess demonic features akin to that of a tiefling, extra sets of large horns, a boney carapace atop her skin and a powerful tail. Her body is always shown with a plethora of injuries and scars that are most often still bleeding, with the goddess reveling in the blood and pain. Some of the injuries seem to come from the inside as pointed spines jut out from the open wounds. She wears obsidian black armour and wields a mighty glaive, both often shown drenched in blood and damaged from battle.

Relationships

Yalanue is a deity that elicits fear from many other gods for they believe that given time she will come to ruin their domains as well. She attempts to make no allies, broker no peace, and accepts no surrender. She is isolated and this is both her advantage and weakness for her foes underestimate her ability alone but she is hardly unstoppable.

Yalanue is an extremely popular deity amongst traditional Death Elf communities. She is revered for her role in freeing the Death Elves from their abyssal debts and feared for the destruction she wrought. Yalanue accepts both prayers of honor and terror, accepting prayers from both as to bring more pain into the world.

Tenets

• Devotion through Pain. Flagellation of the self or others is holy work, share the blessing of Yalanue.
• No Mercy, No Respite. All those who oppose you must be crushed underfoot, leave no soil for rebellion to grow.
• Service in Death. Do not fear death, for when it finds you, you shall join Yalanue in her eternal conquest.

Sins

• Peace is a Lie. Accepting surrender is weakness and a trick meant to weaken you.
• Honoring the Weak. Do not grant those who have passed reverence unless they have proved themselves through conflict or conquest.
• Defiling the Honored Dead. The bodies of great warriors belong to Yalanue, ensure they are treated with respect until they can be offered to
• her.
