The Tinkerer - The Machine of Progress
Civilization, Engineering, Progress
The universe needs order, for if there is no order, chaos will consume and destroy all. Axis found itself the staunch defender of order in the multiverse and was no stranger to those who sought to stifle their perfect society. The city was besieged many times by the primordial forces of the universe, each attack bringing ruin and death to those that lived within. The Axiomites needed aid in their defense and so from their forges were created the Inevitables, men made of rock, metal and gemstone crafted to repel the forces of chaos. And so they halted the advance of the proteans and held those that would oppose order at arm's length. But even their great power and strength was not unstoppable and many of these idealized defenders fell in their duty.
One such Inevitable would go on to be known as the Tinkerer. Their fall in the defense of the city of law left them a shattered ruin floating through the cosmos. The remnants of many others followed them through space, without cause and without life they drifted for centuries. Most would be forever scattered to the heartless sea of stars but the Tinkerer and their sundered form found their way to Kaidryn, raining from the sky in a blaze of providence. What remained of the machine descended to the newly born Primogens like an omen from the divine above. It would be many years still before light returned to the eyes of the Tinkerer, when his would be saviours brought together all his pieces once more till his fractured body filled with life once more.
The Primogens were a species with no achievements to their name, no great accomplishments and so their first would be the repair of this broken machine. They would gaze upon it in wonder, unsure of its purpose or origin, merely believing that the Tinkerer was a gift to them. And it was an ideal the Inevitable found themselves wishing to live up to. For when their form was shattered so too was his prime directive lost, no more did their form possess a longing to return to Axis and bar the gates against chaos. Instead they grew a heart from amongst these fresh-faced followers and a new desire to defend these innocents arose within.
The Tinkerer still held within their mind all the knowledge gifted to him by the Axiomites, a people so far beyond these Primogens. The Tinkerer taught them as one would a child, instructing in what the Tinkerer believed to be the fundamental knowledge of the universe. They served as the Primogens teacher and protector for generations, aiding them in their rapid advancement, pushing them to recreate the society the Tinkerer recognized from his history. The great city of Axis reborn on Kaidryn birthed from the hands of new craftsmen.
Unfortunately, there were those who grew jealous of the favor offered to the Primogens and they were betrayed. The existence of the Tinkerer was passed onto the aeons above and did come to seek to punish the Inevitable for breaking both the laws that bound it to Axis as well as the comics laws of order. Upon their arrival they did not find a mere machine, but instead one granted the spark of divinity through the faith and belief placed in them by the Primogens. Such an existence would be hard to be rid of in normal circumstances, but the laws that bound the Tinkerer bound even the gods above and for their transgressions, the Tinkerer was shattered once more. The last thing their eyes beheld wast hose whom had betrayed them, conflicted on the results of their treachery.
What was left of the Tinkerer was a mere echo of their former existence. But unlike their first destruction, their consciousness still persisted through the divinity they had gained. The Tinkerer would lay in silence for centuries before a lone gnome would happen upon one of their fragments, where once more they would grant the knowledge of the city of law to this individual. They bargained with the gnome to aid them in their reconstitution and they would help them build a grand empire of progress and technology. But even the birth of the Fwyndondrone Confederacy was not enough to gather all the Tinkerers' parts once more. They were left to languish and wait again until John Gun, a wandering mercenary and warlock of the Tinkerer, along with the Fateful Eight returned the Tinkerer their final piece. The heart.
When finally all pieces of the Tinkerer had been reunited once more, ascending this time as a true god amongst a new pantheon. Of whom held no grudge against a being so long locked away.

The Tinkerer originates from the city of Axis, an inner plane and the domain of law and order.
Appearance
The Tinkerer is from the ancient caste of Inevitable, the methods to create more of which no longer exist. Their form is chiseled from stone and mixed with metal, possessing six arms and massive metal wings. After the multiple sunderings, the Tinkerer’s body bears many scars inflicted by both the forces of chaos. Some of these injuries have been mended with time, new stone and alloys visibly stand out from the rest of their form showcasing the patchwork repairs that even the greatest works require.

Regions of Popular Worship
The Fwyndondrone Confederacy not only follows the Tinkerer and their teachings, but were founded as a result of them. The country itself would likely not exist in the state it does today were it not for the Tinkerer and it is by far the most prevailing faith of the nation.
Followers
Those who follow the Tinkerer are most often interested in progress, science and technology. In the past the Inevitable had granted great boons to areas such as the Fwyndondrone Confederacy and John Gun, and many hope to receive similar gifts. These followers range from individuals such as scientists, engineers, and architects to those who seek to use such advance technology for personal gain and power.
A lesser subsect of followers of the Tinkerer are more aligned to his lawful roots in the plane of Axis. They hope for the protection the Inevitable once granted to the great city, or at least the inspiration to better defend themselves or the law. These individuals usually count themselves amongst city guards, government officials, or others who seek to establish or enforce the law within an area.
Tenets
- Design Precedes Action. Know where you are going before you venture forth, only through forethought can lasting works be made.
- The Whole is Greater. Individual excellence is meaningless without contribution to the greater structure.
- Build not for the Moment. Legacy lies in what outlives you. Enduring works mark true greatness.
Sins
- Abandoning Unfinished Works. To leave a creation half-finished or a project is an insult to both the labor and the idea.
- Glory Through Chaos. Pursuing greatness through anarchy, personal rebellion, or violent upheaval is vanity, momentary noise that leaves no lasting mark.
- Tyranny by Order. The law is meant to serve the greater good, to use it as an excuse to enslave or constrain the mind or body is a grave perversion.
