They say that the seas were created by two sisters. The younger one, Khirriseni, was a gentle soul. She was the one to fill the seas with beauty and wonder. She was the one to softly rock each ship as the crew fell asleep. She was the one to lead the same crew safely to their next destination. She was a kind soul. Until one fateful day her own sister has slain her husband. Betrayed and stricken with grief, Khirriseni has hidden away from the world in the depths of the oceans. Only recently has she finally reemerged, accepting prayers once again, seemingly as gentle as always…

• The most common holy symbol depicts an open seashell with a pearl inside.
• Pearls are considered symbols of Khirriseni.
• Two types of animals are seen as connected to Khirriseni: those that spend a lot of the time near the surface greeting the sea travellers, like dolphins and whales; and those that either create sea beauty or are sea beauty, like pearl oysters and corrals.

History

Home Plane

The Divine Realm of Khirriseni, the Crystalline Sea in Elysium, is a sea with water so transparent it’s almost invisible. It is filled with all manner of beautiful sea life. This peaceful and tranquil place was previously inhabited by both sisters, but now that the older one has left the place became much more quiet.

Appearance

In her humanoid form Khirriseni has the appearance of a beautiful mermaid. Red hair contrasts with the vibrant green eyes. She wears a pure white cloth dress top and a skirt seemingly made out of seaweed. On her neck is a symbol of an eight pointed star, the only thing left from her husband.

Common Followers

The followers of Khirriseni are usually more peaceful seafarers, like traders, explorers, researchers. Some members of aquatic races consider her their patron deity. Anyone who wishes for the calm sea travel would pray to one of the sisters, but not both, so as to not incur their wrath.

• The holy symbol used by Khirrisenians is usually worn around the neck or close to the heart.
• There is no set pattern for when an individual follower must pray to Khirriseni, but most do it before partaking of the sea’s bounty, or daily when near or on water.
• Marriage is considered a sacred pact, binding two souls for life. Breaking such a pact is considered the most grave sin of all.
• The faithful of Khirriseni are returned to the seas after their final death, so that their life can return to the place it originated from.
