Overview: GoI-003, colloquially referred to as "The Illuminati," is a clandestine organization believed to exert considerable influence over global political, economic, and cultural systems. While historical accounts trace the name to the 18th-century Bavarian Illuminati—a short-lived secret society advocating enlightenment ideals—Foundation intelligence indicates that the contemporary Illuminati functions as a decentralized yet highly organized network of individuals and cells embedded in critical institutions worldwide.

Despite their public depiction in conspiracy theories as a monolithic cabal controlling all aspects of human society, Foundation investigations suggest the Illuminati’s primary agenda is the long-term stewardship of humanity through subtle intervention. This mission often places them in direct conflict with the SCP Foundation, as their methods frequently involve the exploitation, concealment, or even weaponization of anomalous phenomena to maintain or increase their influence.
