Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-x1997 is to be housed in a containment chamber identical to that of SCP-x1996, located at Site-██. The chamber must include reinforced walls and anti-teleportation arrays to prevent unintentional appearances of SCP-x1997 entities (designated SCP-x1997-1 through SCP-x1997-163).

SCP-x1997 is a spherical crystal approximately 22 cm in diameter, composed of an unknown blue material. It is encased in what appears to be delicate golden vine-like structures that wrap around its surface. SCP-x1997 was discovered in a hidden shrine in [REDACTED], Japan, during an archaeological survey. The shrine's design and artifacts closely resembled those associated with SCP-x1996's original discovery site, suggesting a possible connection between the two.

Like SCP-x1996, SCP-x1997 generates entities at seemingly random intervals. These entities, designated SCP-x1997-1 through SCP-x1997-163, are unique in design and abilities. Unlike SCP-x1996, however, SCP-x1997 entities do not display any form of "evolutionary" progression or thematic grouping. Each entity is distinct, with no observable relationship to others.

For example:

SCP-x1997-28: A large quadrupedal creature that resembles a Bos taurus, but with a nearly spherical body, horns on top of its head, and legs much shorter than what would be expected on other creatures of similar biology. SCP-x1997-45: A quadruped resembling a Equus caballus but with bright blue and yellow skin, with protrusions that look similar to lightning bolts.

The nature of the connection between SCP-x1997 entities and SCP-x1997 itself remains unclear. Generated entities do not display consistent hostility but have been known to display territorial behavior, especially towards other SCP-x1997 entities.





Addendum x1997-A: Comparison to SCP-x1996

While SCP-x1997 shares several key traits with SCP-x1996—including its spherical crystalline structure, Japanese origin, and capacity to generate unique entities—there are notable differences:

SCP-x1997 entities show no evidence of evolutionary progression or shared characteristics. SCP-x1997’s generative events appear to occur at slightly shorter intervals compared to SCP-x1996. SCP-x1997 generates entities with a broader range of abilities and designs, many of which seem tailored for specific, often unpredictable, environmental conditions. Research into SCP-x1997's origins and its possible connection to SCP-x1996 is ongoing. The Foundation is investigating whether these objects are part of a broader pattern or series of anomalous artifacts.
