Ebekashel
Ebekashel is a settlement located in the Dewellian-Esteian forests around the entrance of a cave system known for large veins of may ore.
Demographics
About half the population of Ebekashel is dwarvish, due to the nature of may ore mining. Rather than building strip mines, the custom of dwarvish mining is to leave as much of the natural structure of a mine or cave system intact, which limits the amount of people able to comfortably fit into a single operation.
The rest of the village is evenly distributed on the basis of race. Professions primarily exist to support the miners and mages or do on-site processing of the ore.
Government
Ebekashel actually began as an expedition outpost for the Ebekashel mining company, and has since kept the position of "foreman" as the name for their leader. Conflict is generally handled with a fist-fight or some sort of honor competition.
The settlement is kept alive by the trade of may ore and stones of power. Two cycles of merchants from the settlement travel to nearby cities and sell the ore and stones to various organizations and individuals, then purchase food and other supplies the settlement needs. Upon their return, they are able to rest and spend time with their loved ones while the other merchant cycle takes the trip.
Defences
The defences of Ebekashel are largely passive -- some of the mages associated with the settlement cloaked the village in an aura of concealment and bewilderment, leading any would-be visitors not given the mental key by a resident to wander off in a random direction.
Industry & Trade
Ebekashel is a town built around may ore. At the center of the town is the entrance to an expansive cave system that the Ebekashel mining company and originally scouted and found too much trouble for its value. Some members of the company decided to part ways and search the cave system regardless, drawn by the strange scent of the ore.
