Hippocampus
Hippocampi, being water creatures, are usually found in the seas. The Danlae have domesticated some for use as mounts or to pull barges up rivers.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A hippocampus looks like the cross between a horse and a dolphin. It has a horse-shaped head and two short forelegs with fins on the end of them. The forelegs seem to have a much more flexible leg joint than a horse does as the legs are able to move in multiple directions. The latter half of the body takes the form of a long torso ending in a wide finned tail. The tail propels the animal to great speeds in the water. The horse's "mane" is also finned to help it move smoothly through the water.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Hippocampi are omnivores eating both sea vegetation as well as fish, squid, and jellyfish.
