Camperian Comet Corona

When the Camperian people were defeated and "wiped out", all that officially remained of them was a particular comet they used to use to help them take over planets. It may or may not actually be a thinking entity, because the path of the comet has been known to adjust for certain obstacles in its path in a not entirely natural way. It takes about a thousand years for a full cycle to finish, but its path does cross some places multiple times in a circuit.
It used to be a sign of fear. Now the Camperians are "gone", it's a sign of wonder and a major tourist attraction when it passes by a planet.
The comet generates a kind of field that interferes with telepathic abilities, which of course used to be a great boon to the Camperians. It's described as a pleasant dampening effect, rather like the silence one experiences underwater.
Visually, it's quite a stunning effect to witness. The comet's tail is rather unspectacular, rather standard in color and size and shape, but the energy field around the comet itself forms something like a nebula. The colors change based on the atmosphere of the planets that it passes near, thus meaning that every new solar system will generate a completely different effect. The shape and formation of the corona varies depending on distance from atmosphere, and the effect of the sun can cause it to shine with a dim light of its own, like the particles absorb the excess light.
It's relaxing, to the extent that studies have been done examining the effect. Everything they've found says that the peaceful feelings are not caused by the field. It's simply that beautiful of a natural phenomenon.
