The Deadly Maelstrom

In these little bios I as the writer usually try to say something good about them all. But for Maelstrom there is nothing good to say. Born into a family that had been fishing for centuries in the waters around Maine. she discovered very early that she could call fish to her fathers nets. Soon she also discovered she could drive them away too. Fisherman who paid her found their nets full. Those who refused pulled in empty ones. Those who still refused found their ships destroyed by waves and wind. Arrested and imprisoned a half dozen times she always managed to escape.

During the Rikti war many villains rose to the task of defending their world. They put aside greed and petty hatreds and fought the good fight. She wasn't one of them. Where others saw the need to help - she saw opportunity for profit. Cut off in the fighting Bangor was at one point running low on food and medical supplies. A freighter was dispatched under heavy guard. The attacks by the Rikti were fierce but nothing compared to Maelstrom's. She sank the escorting destroyer and took the freighter. She then offered to sell it back to the city for a huge ransom.

An ad hoc group of local heroes rose to the occasion and in a wild fight beat her and took her and her cronies prisoner. She did not remain in prison long. Still on the loose she remains a threat and is one of the few people whose file with the CIA and American military reads "Kill on sight - at all costs."

A founding member of the super villain group the Seawolves they remain a serious threat to New England and the waters around it.
