For all the show Nathan makes of being a drunken Hillbilly - he is far from one. He grew up in a middle class neighborhood but is of Appalachia stock. The people racists call hillbillies. But they are a tough and hardy breed and were known as the "Over the mountain boys'. These are the people who defeated Patrick Ferguson at the Battle of Kings mountain. And YES he is related to Daniel Morgan.

From an early age Nathanial showed an aptitude for computers and electronics. And he is a geek at heart. But his parents insisted he take some sport in school. After some trial and error he picked up martial arts and found he liked it. The style he picked was the unusual Drunken Master Style. He wasn't just good at it he was VERY good at it. Awards and honors for education were matched by awards and trophies for Martial arts contests.

He was on his was to Montreal for a match when the Rikti attacked. His plane was diverted to Bangor Airport. Along with all the other passengers and crew he found himself in the airport waiting area when the Rikti attacked the airport directly. Training took over and he leapt to the defense (literally). He fell in with a other supers and the Sea Watch was formed.
