Ugwonsi

Cool little squid fellas with genders that are set around the moon.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ugwonsi are bipedal, with a number of little tendrils that come down from the cheek. Ugwonsi tails consist of three distinct parts: semi-transparent fronds on the top of the tail, the tail itself, and a semi-transparent underside with superfluous visual veining and marking.   Ugwonsi have no toes, and instead walk on flat, featureless paws with retractable 'suckers' on their underside to aid in climbing if necessary.   Most interestingly, Ugwonsi possess a strange internal system which allows them to ingest and process a variety of atmospheric particulates, to the point where Ugwonsi are considered ideal explorers on first contact with a planet. Many ship captains find it pertinent to have at least one Ugwonsi on the crew so that there's less of a risk of atmospheric conditions damaging the adventurer.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ugwonsi reproduce based on the cycles of their ancestral planet's moons. While many of them have not put paw on the planet, they feel the cycles in their cellular memory, and this ebb and flow fuels their reproductive cycle.   The three sexes of Ugwonsi correspond to which tidal moon was at its peak when the Ugwonsi was born. Each of these sexes can only fertilize members of one other sex, and be fertilized by members of the other.

Civilization and Culture

Gender Ideals

The Ugwonsi ( in their base culture ) have three distinct genders, which are tied to the task an individual does. There is no direct translation of these roles to the human "male or female" binary. Furthermore, Ugwonsi who are raised in other cultures do not hold to these gender identifiers, which can cause confusion when meeting Ugwonsi raised in-culture.
Average Height
3 to 4 feet tall.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Ugwonsi are bright, colorful entities with a variety of stripes and circles marking their slick hides.
