The Battle of the First Two

How the Battle of the First Two will be remembered is still up in the air. Whether it will be remembered as a time of two sacrifices necessary to a greater victory, or simply the first two deaths in the inevitable slaughter of yet another ill-fated group of adventurers who fooled themselves into thinking they could save Barovia from itself, remains to be seen. Regardless, we do know that this is the first time the Suicide Strahd threw itself against Castle Ravenloft's defences, and that it was not the rousing success they hoped for.
The element of surprise given away by an unforeseen trap, though the party had Strahd von Zarovich unsettled and even fleeing at various points, and managed to kill some of his most distinguished lieutenants, they were all either eventually killed or captured, taken captive by Strahd and his remaining allies.
