Cormyna

Cormyna, also known as "choir finch", is a species of small bird, dark brown and plain in color. Their eyes are surrounded by white circles, but are otherwise black and plain. Cormyna in themselves are small and nondiscript, but they flock with others to create massive swarming clouds of bird flocks. These flocks are sometimes called "choir clouds" or "flock storms" and can ravage fields and cause even other animals to flee, due to their group feeding, unstoppable movement, and horrible shrieking sounds. A single specimen has a regular birdsong, but when grouped in its flock, their minds become crazed and the cloud acts on groupthink, causing the individuals to shriek and release a horrible sound. The flocks' occurrence and formation is unknown - it does not seem to be related to seasonal migrations or breeding patterns, but rather a random, natural phenomenon. After a flock storm, many cormyna die of exhaustion, and their dead corpses are typically bone-spent, devoid of life or salvageable meat, even for scavenging animals.
