Dean Embrose Lu is the human warlock Dean of Shadow at Silverquill College at Strixhaven University. Lu is a master poet whose ink magic is dominating and without mercy. Quick with a cutting remark, Dean Lu has seen many mage-students scrubs out of Strixhaven and has nothing good to say about those who can’t hack it.
A cynic, Lu believes that most people are in it for themselves. He demands his students learn how to use language-based magic to ‘get what they deserve.’ While he often fights with Dean Talonrook, he holds a deep (begrudging) respect for the owlin.
Enacting rigid discipline and an ever-watchful eye to catch any of his son’s mistakes, Lu is quick to remind Killian of their talented Lu ancestry. He believes Killian’s failures are his own failures – and that of the family, by extension; weakness in any pursuit is simply not an option.
