Oceancrest

Oceancrest a city divided by a wall. On one side there are nobles that rule the city and decide what laws to pass. When the city was created the nobles chose to build on the northern side. They believed by building on the north and giving the south side of the city to the poor it would remind them that they are above them. Many buildings in the north are made of marble, stone, and only the finest wood. Most shops use materials that are imported from the other city. The roads are cleaned daily and made of a bright red brick. The shop fronts are often very clean and often accompanied by gold or silver trims around the windows. Most stores will have displays but will not have prices listed for items. In the center of the city is a palace made from precious metals and gold. The doors to the palace are made entirely of gold with embedded ruby, sapphires, and emeralds to create a diamond imprint. It is surrounded heavily with guards and under patrol 24/7. On the southern side many of the buildings are put together with random materials of whatever they could find. The roads are often made from dirt and mud with many dips and bumps in them. Most of the items sold here are items that the north has donated or sold to the south. The streets are patrolled by guards who take what they want and look the other way if one can pay the right price. The guards wear silver armor with white cloth underneath with the symbol of the Society for Monetary Masters imprinted on the chest. Most who live in the south do not live there by choice but by debt. Many of the families and citizens carry the debt of their ancestors. After the rebellion there were laws that were passed that passed on the debt of the families, their children and future generations, Making it impossible for anyone to escape the city, even if they did the Society of Monetary Masters would hunt them down. There is a small section in the south right up against the wall where those who are not poor but are not rich enough to become a part of noble society live. Many of these people are those who go to work in the north and return to their homes in the south once the day is done. The wall is made of a bright white stone rumored to have some sort of magical properties. On the north side it is bright and clean and many different paintings are drawn on the wall showing the fortune, luck and greatness of the city. On the southern side the was Is eroded and darkened, covered in moss and plant life.
The first city to be established on Straxterra and the first city to fall to corruption. Oceancrest has dedicated many of its shrines to Sithrak and Dyios . The people in Oceancrest are heavily governed by the Nobles of Oceancrest Association of Oceancrest who has stacked the deck in his favor. Many people fear breaking the law because of the harsh and cruel punishment set by the king. Many believe that he has made a pact with a devil or demon. Some say that he has even made a deal with Dyios himself. While most of the city lives in ruins the nobles of the city elect the officials and create the rules. Most have lavish parties and pass the bill to those who live in poverty. When the poor finally had enough, a rebellion sparked during the wrath of Sylva. However with the immense power and endless wealth the rebellion was crushed within weeks. Harsher and crueler punishments were the only thing to come of the rebellion and the hope and ideology that one person can make a change if it’s for the right reason. The nobles see the rebellion as a failure but those who truly believe in the cause of the rebellion see it as a great achievement. Many who survived the battles and the rebellion know that the movement isn’t dead just underground while the regroup, replan and recover silently waiting for their time to strike back at the nobles.
