WorldEmber Prep 2023 in Strathnora | World Anvil

WorldEmber Prep 2023

Well, look at that, the year is almost over and I have done almost no work on my world since the February Bestiary Challenge. This is mostly due to focussing on other projects and life just getting me down, but I'm back in good form and hoping to be able to complete this years WorldEmber Challenge to help flesh out my Homebrew Pathfinder 2e world some more!

First Thoughts

Well, I think that what I plan to do is focus a little more on the primary city, Havenport, that my campaign is taking place in. Honestly, I only started (Or more accurately, restarted) this world back in February, full of vim and vigour to rebuild entirely new lands for my friends and players to explore. I mostly completed the Bestiary February Challenge, and the did little else, simply letting my ideas brew in my mind as I worked on other projects.   However, now I plan on actually working on this world, as the current pre-written campaign I have been running (Abomination Vaults) for the last year is coming to an end soon, which should be plenty of motivation to continue working on the world of Strathnora so I have something to let my players run around and destroy explore.

Homework

Week 1 - Pledging and Zoning in

As I said above, I will be focussing on the city of Havenport, particularly the NPCs within and the various Organisations that they make up. This is already quite a long list, as I may have been a little overambitious when I first built the world, and Havenport in particular. Oh well, I guess I have to live with my decisions and just get to work actually fleshing out these various people and Organisations.   I have already done quite a bit of work on the city itself, with a map and many, MANY pins, but other than that I have been rather lazy. Well, no more! Time to get stuck in and actually write down some of the ideas I have for the people my players will meet, and the organisations they can join or oppose! Wish me luck, because I feel like I'm going to need it.

Week 2 - Preparing the Area of Focus

  1. Mini-Meta
Scope: The various Organizations that call the city of Havenport home and several of their members.
Themes: Fantasy vs Technology, A contest between old traditions and new technology, Political scheming and manipulation.
Mood: Bright but Mysterious.
Goals: Create a diverse cast of characters for my players and their PCs to interact with.
Inspiration: Fantasy Steampunk like the DND 5e Eberron Setting.
  2. Set up a solid category structure
Funnily enough I have spent the last week doing just this in preparation for WE. It's not perfect just yet, but it's a lot better than it was before I started.

Week 3 -Welcome Your Readers

So, after two weeks of hectic work, I finally have the time to finish off this homework.   First and foremost, I need to finish my World Introduction, then I plan to make the Player Handbook, World Atlas, and World Encyclopedia book buttons instead of simply part of the side menu thing. This will hopefully allow my readers/players to find them more easily. I am going to watch the video provided in the artical to better understand how to edit/set up my homepage without having to use my rudimentary knowledge of CSS. Other than that, I don't have too many other plans until I further develop the world of Strathnora and understand the ins and outs of WorldAnvil better.

Week 4 - Last Minute Prep

Well, there's not much else I plan to do other than work on the Organisations and NPCs in Havenport, a task which I have already started to do, so I guess I'll probably just keep working on the basic Ancestries and Heritages in my off time. Considering that I'm using Pathfinder 2e, that means that there is a lot of work to do, as I will also need to change some things around when the Remaster is fully out and available online.
