Strangers of Tomorrow

Acid Splash

0-level (Cantrip) Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: 20ft/60ft (target has advantage on their save)
Components: Material, Somatic
Materials: Plastic Container, Chemistry Kit
Duration: Instant
The user hurls a bottle of hydrofluoric acid at an opponent; choose one or two targets you can see within range. If you choose two, they must be within five feet of each other. A target must succeed in a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6 acid damage.   If the target is left alive they will have lingering effects from the acid such as blistering, pain, elevated heart rate, paralysis, and slow death. See more below.   It is implied that the acid is prepared ahead of time; such as the morning before. The player does not need to mention they prepared the acid to the DM.
At higher levels: This spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).
Available for: Sorcerer, Wizard, Artificer

Effect

When Hydrofluoric Acid comes into contact with skin it produces serious chemical burns. Hydrofluoric Acid is a deep-penetrating acid, meaning that it can bypass the tough, protective top layer of dead skin.   When the acid initially makes contact with the skin it will cause immediate erythema (redness and irritation) followed by rapid tissue destruction characterized by whitish discoloration followed by vesication (blistering) and skin necrosis. As the skin begins to break down, ulceration may reach the deeper tissues. These lesions will heal slowly and leave deep scarring. On parts of the body where the bone is near the surface such as hands, feet, and face, decalcification and corrosion of the bone may occur.   Intense, burning pain will set in within five to ten minutes.     If more than one percent of the body's surface is exposed to the acid, systemic toxicity becomes likely (see secondary effects).

Side/Secondary Effects

Absorption of the acid into the bloodstream through ingestion, contact, or respiration will lead the fluoride to be distributed to all cells of the body, causing Systemic Toxicity.    Due to the high-affinity fluoride ions have towards blood solubles such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium insoluble salts will form in the bloodstream, creating a system-wide electrolytic imbalance. This leads to conditions such as hypocalcemia ,hypomagnesemia, and hypokalemia, and metabolic acidosis  The electrolytic imbalance affects the cardiovascular system, causing hypotension and vasospasm  Hypocalcemia and hyperkalemia depolarize the nerves and muscle fibers and interfere with the transmission of signals throughout the neurons. Fluorosis can lead to intoxication in the person affected. The intoxicated person can become anxious, confused, may have seizures, paresthesia, and paralysis. Severe cases of fluoride intoxication can cause sudden cardiac arrest. When exposed to high doses, brain oedema followed by a deep coma may occur.

Manifestation

Hydrofluoric Acid is a colorless liquid that gives off a strong, acidic odor. When contact with skin occurs, it will create a white foam.
Material Components
Any Plastic Container. Cannot be stored in any container made from organic materials or glass; it will be dissolved.   Chemistry Set. The user has to make Hydrogen Fluorite gas by dissolving pure Fluorite Mineral in Sulfuric Acid. Water is then added Hydrogen Fluoride and Hydrofluoric Acid is created.
Applied Restriction
If the vial is thrown underwater, it has no effect; the solution is diluted and becomes a weak acid.
