Forthum Rifle

These rifles, renowned for their simplistic design, cheap material cost, reliability, and semi-automatic fire, became the staple of the United Empire of Order army. Every soldier entering the army gets one and gets familiar with it in boot camp. In addition, its modularity allows it to fit into more specific niches that it’s standard factory model wouldn’t normally be able to compete with. For instance it’s box magazine allows it to accept clips of 12 rounds before reloading, however exchanging the box magazine with an external magazine port allows the rifle to accept larger box magazines capable of holding 20 to 40 rounds in it, cumbersome but great at holding done positions against unfavorable odds. The clearance on the top side of the weapon allows for numerous different scopes to be attached: these range from red dot sights to high magnification scopes. The magazine box and right frame can be swapped with a special modified version to allow for ammunition with increased length and more gunpowder packed, increasing the rifles penetration, range, and stopping power; with a scope, a decent sniper rifle is born. The forward rubber grip can also be uninstalled to allow for different under barrel attachments to attach to. For instance the bayonet, flashlight, laser, gun-shield, or bipod. Some have modified their rifles by installing a storage box inside of the stock to store extra clips. There is a way to turn the rifle to be ship safe although it’s more cost effective to just buy and use a ship safe weapon. However when it comes to on planetfall, nothing beats a Forthum Rifle.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Integrated box magazine installed to the right side of the gun with a port for ejecting and inserting clips on the left side. The barrel has a tube that follows it underneath part of the way to enable semi-automatic firing

Manufacturing process

  1. A metal Fabricator morphs a steel rod into the barrel shape along with the gas tube and block
  2. The barrel mechanisms are then attached to the barrel, including the box magazine, the bolt, and the spring for the bolt, along with other small barrel mechanisms
  3. The two halves of the shell of the gun is either fabricated or pressed and then screwed to each side of the gun
  4. The trigger mechanism is formed separately and slid into the cavity underneath the gun and screwed in
  5. The forward rubber grip pad is then screwed in
